(HD) (CC) Is your phone rebooting endlessly by itself for no apparent reason? If you plug your phone into your "phone charger" does your phone start up normally? The battery caused this in My Galaxy Note 4. This video will show you how to identify if a "battery" is the likely cause of a phone rebooting by itself. (Galaxy Note 4 shown here).
IMPORTANT WARNING! you must first check your battery life graph for sudden drops to zero! If you don't see any drops to zero (like I showed in the video) then your battery is likely NOT the problem.
UPDATE: the original battery shown in the video lasted only 6 or 7 months. I replaced it with an Anker battery. It worked well for 9 months then the same problem happened again. Luckily it had an 18 month warranty. So, for my Note 4, 2 batteries in a year and a half!
The only issue you may run into is if the battery is easily replaceable or not!
Check out my channel "Mysimplefix"!

Important! My replacement battery to the one I showed in this video failed again. Same symptoms. The first battery lasted 6 months. This second battery died this past week (almost 9 months). My Note 4 started to REBOOT CONSTANTLY by itself, and it got "very hot" at the camera area. Wiping the cache partition made no difference. The only thing that stopped the rebooting was to plug in my charge cord into the charger. I replaced the battery 7 days ago again, and, NO MORE REBOOTING. If your phone stops rebooting when it's plugged in to your charger, go to your battery life graph. If there are sudden drops to zero, then your battery will likely be the problem. So far, between 6 months, to 9 months for my batteries under heavy use (Galaxy Note 4). Please let us know how you make out people!

Update, after 2 1/2 years my Galaxy Note 4 died. Battery replacements did fix the problem for a while, but eventually the phone bit the dust. My symptoms were that the phone would go into a constant reboot loop, and the back of the phone near the camera would get very warm. My Galaxy note 2 also died after 2 1/2 years too. NOT a good experience Samsung. Just wanted to update you guys.

The jumping around on the battery graph is actually just glitch in software calibration tracking. The rebooting is a separate issue.

Also, simple fix. Check your battery level. If it is low, it can't do a full reboot and will cycle. Mine did that when all the transfer to a new phone drained the battery to nothing in no time flat.

N H what can I do if my note 4 died at 30%
@erich2291
@erich2291 7 жыл бұрын
Not much. I swapped out the battery for a new one and I have not had any problems. I believe (correct me if I am wrong) that the way these guys detect charge while charging is the resistance in the circuit. The older the battery, the less charge, the higher (innate) resistance. So when you plug in and it says "70" it is actually nearly dead. If it is a resistance gauge while on as well, that explains a lot (I don't know if it is voltage while on). If yours dies at 30... well.... try a new battery!

Random rebooting issue - i suffered a lot last year, I handed in my Gold Note 4 for a refurb, only to realise that a OEM battery was needed. I have a replacement and that started rebooting randomly a few weeks ago. I realised I had been charging my phone overnight. Got a new battery, and all is fine. Reboots occured when using camera or taking pictures, highly frustrating for an instagram user!!!

My Note 4 randomly shuts off, sometimes reboots on its own sometimes not, random reboots, lags a lot too. Called AT&T we did a Master Reboot, still have same problem. Did understand what you were saying about your battery?? I did recently buy a 3rd party battery, the probelms with my phone did not start until a month or so after installing new battery, so not sure if it is the new battery.

+majorghn if I were you, I would "wipe the cache partition" of your phone. For an unrelated error, that same procedure fixed my friends' phone of its issue. I show how I do it in this following video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIqlh4Ktd9J_qck

+Lavonnah Cordero I would suggest using any high quality battery (DON'T use "no-name" cheap ones off EBay or other places). I replaced mine with an "Anker" battery that I am using in my device right now to reply to you. So far, so good. As of the date of the video, up until now (July 24th) it's worked well. An original Samsung battery would of course be the standard replacement

My note 4 was fine all this while for 2 years, today suddenly when i touched an app it suddenly went off, after that it started rebooting itself continuously. Even when connected to the charger it is doing it. some times it says battery charge level is 75% and next moment after rebooting it says 0%. I hope its just the battery and not the firmware

Mine also has this issue like yours. I wipe the cache partition, and device wipe, and downgraded to Lollipop from Marshmallow. Still the same thing is happening. This is plain outright killing me. Maybe I have a hardware issue that software fixes wont do the trick.
@common_sense_supreme
@common_sense_supreme 7 жыл бұрын
Kumaraswamy Kademane it's a well known hardware issue that plagued the Note 2 and S3...and now the Note 4. The 32gb phone memory (emmc) is faulty and goes corrupt after a year or so. It's a hardware issue, so software won't solve it. Eventually it will keep rebooting and go dead. Take it to a service centre and ask them to replace the EMMC. It costs around $40.
@KumaraswamyKademane
@KumaraswamyKademane 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks all for the suggestions. i took it to the service center, the guy just slipped in another battery and told me to check it for 30 minutes or so, to see if it is the issue with the battery. incidentally the phone was fine with that battery. hence, i just bought a new battery and it is fine since about 15 days. Lucky me

So it's possible that it's just my battery and not a software problem cause my phone was today at 30 percent and started rebooting over and over once I took battery out and put it back in it showed I have 0% battery but once I plugged it in it said I have 13% battery very frustrating
@mysimplefix
@mysimplefix 7 жыл бұрын
If you plug your phone into your charger that came with the phone and the rebooting stops, a battery would be my next step. For me on my Galaxy Note 4,that was the problem. (of course the sudden drops to zero in your battery life graph must be there too).

Please check and CLEAN your battery connections first. Do it with contact cleaner and a gentle rub. Also check the battery is a snug fit. Place a piece of paper or thin card at the Base of your battery if it is not a snug fit. This will tighten the fit. These 2 things fixed my boot loop.

@mysimplefix
@mysimplefix 7 жыл бұрын
+Carlos Rodriguez yes, I can agree with you on the batteries. The good part is, at least on these phones, the battery can be swapped out in 5 seconds, unlike the...... Note 7. I had a Note 2 as well, one battery failed. The Note 2 died after 18 months. Got this Note 4 (which I really like.) The original battery lasted about 6 months, and I replaced it with an Anker battery. Good performance like the original, BUT, It died the same way as in this video after 8 or 9 months. The good news is it has an 18 month warranty! They sent me a new one quickly no charge. I will only ever buy a phone that has a removeable battery from here on in (if possible). The sealed in battery isn't such a good idea. And for you Apple fans, remember, even the IPhone 4 had a recall for swelling batteries a few years back. Hopefully the Note 8 will have a removeable battery. It's the only way I'll ever buy one.

I'm having exactly the same problem with my phone, the first time my phone started rebooting was about 8 or 9 months after purchase, I took it to a repair shop, they checked and said the hardware is fine, I flashed the cellphone changed the battery and it started working fine, after 5 month it started rebooting again and my battery swelled (turned out to be fake). I bought a new battery and started working fine again but after 8 month, the same problem again, I flashed my cellphone to android 6 but no difference. the battery has warranty and when I went there they put a new battery in my cellphone but it's still rebooting. I like my cellphone but it really made me sick. I think it's a factory hardware problem.

+Mysimplefix there's a few reasons I say this. 1. when you reboot, the software goes through a set order to safely restart the phone. When there's a fault with the device and it powers down suddenly, it causes a zero power spike in the graph. It's a little like powering off your pc by yanking the power cord. 2. In my case I tried someone else's battery and the fault remained. 3. I bought a new battery and the fault remained. In your case it could have coincidentally being the battery causing the reboot BUT it isn't the battery fault showing up in the graph :-)

This is true about using an OEM battery. I had bought a battery from ebay for my Note 3 AT&T. I thought it was a good battery until I tried to take pictures with flash on. It would instantly turn the phone off and the only way to turn it back on is to pull the battery out. I then plugged it into the charger and tried the same method and it did not turn of my phone. Messaged the seller that his battery was defective and he sent me another one. The new battery did the same thing right away. I gave up with the seller and bought an anker battery from Amazon for twenty bucks. Best investment ever, phone works awesome again and does not shut off. I will probably purchase an Anker battery for my Note 4 Tmobile that I just got a couple of weeks ago. Make sure the battery is high quality or from Samsung.
@mysimplefix

+Alan Villasenor My original battery as shown in the video was a Samsung. It lasted 6 months. I replaced it with an Anker battery as well. The Anker battery I purchased was a 2 battery plus charger combo set. Now unfortunately one Anker battery of the set failed the SAME WAY as well, although it lasted 9 months. The good part of this, is the Anker battery has an 18 month no hassle warranty. I contacted Anker, and they are sending me a replacement at no charge. They are only requesting the serial number of the battery. I'm not suggesting anyone should use them, but I am saying so far, my experience with them has been good.

I had the same problem but it was not the battery, it was the new apps I had put on the phone. I put my phone in Safe mode and tested out the default functions, before going to the new apps and deleting them. Save yourself some time..... delete any new apps and see if that does it. They may seem innocent or like nice apps, but that's probably the problem. It was mines.

Good point. I realize this dealt with a battery issue, but since I found the thread looking for a solution, thought it could help someone else lost like me. Lol. I agree the Note 4 is more fixable with battery issues since you can replace and swap them out. Thanx

Changing the battery works, sure. But the real problem is that this seems to be a battery monitor problem. On other phone models there is a way to reset the battery (these batteries have an onboard chip that controls these things). As far as I can tell there is no reset procedure for this phone. Which makes me think that this is a designed flaw to help sell more batteries, or worse, more phones. Hopefully with Samsung's recent exploding battery problems they'll get this garbage fixed for the next Note model.

Eternal Genesis there have been several instances lately of defective batteries being shipped out to people from all different suppliers. One way to verify this is to look at your battery life meter within "about" on your device AFTER the phone has done a sudden reboot. If the battery life dropped to 0% and then shot back up to normal, then your battery (even the new one) is likely defective! ALSO!... if the phone immediately stops rebooting with your charge cord plugged in to your phone and charger then again, your battery is likely the cause. If these symptoms do not align with what I just mentioned, and reboots happen another times, then.. First clear the cache partition of your device. I've shown how to do it in this following video on a Galaxy Note 4. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIqlh4Ktd9J_qck. After that is done, go to the Google play store and be sure to update ALL your apps! Please let us know how you made out.

Mysimplefix I've already tried all of that. clearing cache, Factory reset, 1 new battery and 1 from a friend, a new charger nothing worked. But it does not matter anymore as I got the S7 Edge. If this thing goes wanky after 1 year too Samsung can go fuck itself and I will jump ships.

+qistina kattyrin in my experience on my Galaxy Note 4, I had the exact same problem as you, and the booting stopped when I plugged it in. I'm going to try a new battery too. But I don't think this will help. Samsung told me to start phone in Safe mode and wait a few hours. If no rebooting, then it's one of my apps. (I get them all from Play store) Even though this just recently started, I went back and removed any apps I added in the last month.( only 2 ) This did not help.I'm not going to remove all my apps because of this just started. Sam Foster it's a well known hardware issue that plagued the Note 2 and S3...and now the Note 4. The 32gb phone memory (emmc) is faulty and goes corrupt after a year or so. It's a hardware issue, so software won't solve it. Eventually it will keep rebooting and go dead. Take it to a service centre and ask them to replace the EMMC. It costs around $40.

Hello, hoping someone can help me. I tried to check the battery diagnostics but I don't know how to read it: imgur.com/a/gkJUB My phone has been continuously rebooting now for days. The ONLY thing that makes it function is to plug it into the charger and then my phone will be normal. If I unplug my phone, it will reboot continuously again immediately. It's just been on 100% for days. If I plug my phone into my computer, it will not work-- it only works if plugged into the charger. I have tried: 1. Opening phone in safe mode - SAME ISSUE! 2. Updating all apps - DID NOT WORK! 3. Clearing caches - did not work! The only thing I have not done is restore to factory setting but I'm thinking that if someone can tell me now that it is the battery, I won't need to. Wouldn't I know to restore it to default if it worked even in safe mode but didn't in "normal"?
