Just got my new GoPro 11 Black and on my first attempt to download via USB to WINDOWS 10, it worked fine. All later attempts the camera did not show up in the FILE folder. As for these instructions: Swipe down from top does NOT give "Preferences". After Swipe down I need to then Swipe LEFT where Preferences are found. Once in Preferences there is NO "Connect USB" No help for me.

My issue is that when I try to do a direct copy from my MAX to my MP it hangs for a while. Then gives me an error message. The message reads, "Error Copying File or Folder. The requested value cannot be determined." I can transfer files 1 at a time using the GoPro Player app.

Hey I appreciate this video! However, when I input the USB from my Go-Pro to my cpu (all in 1 windows desktop w/o a slot for the memory card), the default app that the data opens up with automatically is Windows Photo viewer & I cannot import the vid files from that app. I tried doing what you advised here, but in the 'File Explorer' folder the Go-Pro folder is nowhere to be found. When I search my cpu for Go-Pro 11 it just finds the data in the Windows Media Photo viewer. Any ideas, thanks in advance!!

For everyone with a GoPro hero 11 and using a Mac, first open "Image Capture" then plugin your GoPro as usual. The camera should then popup.

Hello Thank you for the explanation on how to transfer data. I followed the same steps you did, I got the GoPro 11. When I connect and open de DCIM folder, it has different files. More than in your video. From every video I have on the GoPro it has MP4 file, but also a LRV and THM. What do I have to do with these files? I am scared to delete it because the first time I tried to transfer I did the same and my computer gave a pop up notification that there were complications with the file transfer and I had to defrag the SD card, all files were gone.

You only need the video files. The other files are for the gopro itself. No need for them.

​@@GearsAndTechactually you can use LRV files. These are Low Res Video used by GoPro itself as a preview, but can be used as proxy media in video editor of your choice. All you need is to rename them properly.

There is no option of MTP or even USB Connection in GoPro Hero 10.. many videos say the same stuff.. but this is the main issue.. in connections - we have only 1 option of connect device - which has goproquik app, The remote and Volta

I also have an 11. It will not connect to my iPad although it shows usb connect with Quick. At first it does connect and immediately searches for BT or Wireless. Doesn’t work although it will work in Photos. Now for may Mac laptop: it connects but won’t show up for file transfers. It does work fine in the Photos app as it does on the iPad. Several of us have the same issue - any suggestions?

If you have the "GoPro Webcam" program installed on your PC, just disable it. Here my GoPro Hero11 was immediately recognized as an MTP device and no longer as a WEBCAM. And the files can be viewed in Windows Explorer.

I just bought a Hero 11 black. On a cruise ship. And the problem is they FORCE you... FORCE you... to update the camera firmware before you can even use the stupid thing to record. So I had to wait to get to a port with cellular data, then download BOTH their app AND a fricking firmware update. This took about 3 hours at the cellular speed the island had. Just to record fricking video. Needless to say we did NOT get to capture the excursion video. Then I see on this latest firmware version (02.01) they REMOVED that MTP and USB option from preference. I only have 'Wireless connections' directly under preference. So I too have to REMOVE the SD card to get stuff onto my computer through what should have been a MTP or File-transfer interface that every other device in the world has... No way in hell am I installing their bloatware. IMO GoPro has some serious design, and I'd say arrogance and ignorance issues. They should sack whomever is making decisions there..

☺ Finally, I've a way to download content from my GoPro Hero 11 Black to my Windows PC easily by a cable. Apart from the GoPro you'll need THREE things. 1) the MOD case 2) a " USB C to USB C Cable 4K 60Hz 10Gbps Data Lead" (*) and 3) Windows 11 (**). Notes : (*) Buy a branded make to ensure good quality and (**) my W10 PC is not fitted with a USB C so cannot say if the same can be used in this OS? With GoPro off connect up both ends of the USB C cable with the PC on, at first the GoPro will turn on ONLY as much for charging. Turn on the GoPro, the PC now recognised the GoPro as "storage" - it will show USB connection as the 11 has no MTP connection - and the W11 app "Photos" will open up and show you everything on the GoPro . . . and using this app you can download your files! I've checked the file formats and file sizes with a physical download using the SD card in a card-holder, there are NO reductions. The truly necessary bit you need is the MOD case for it's easy to access USB C port. At f***ing last, a way to transfer files in the same way the rest of the world does it with other tech!!!!
