Extremely fascinating. Even if I never try this, it's great to watch. I've always been a fan of this ship. Thanks for sharing

I've always loved the snow speeder, and that one looks like it's in pretty good shape. I have an unusual one myself, I have one that is in a jedi box, but it's in a tri-logo box. it was sealed but the tape on one side have given away, but I have never taken it out of the box. 'it's always awesome to see how these old toys were put together.

@toy polloi I am a huge fan! You got me in to vintage toys! I am a modern Star Wars collector. I normally collect Star Wars the Black series. I grew up collecting the power of the force collection because I was born in 85 then switched to the black series. But I came across your channel a year ago and I have so much enjoyed your talent of restoring vintage toys! Especially this snowspeeder video! I have a modern Star wars the black series snowspeeder! It's huge, but I want to get a vintage one like this to put them together. I just wanted to say you rock and I am a huge fan! Stephen Penor -

I'm in the middle of my Snowspeeder resto just now, although its proving difficult to obtain parts cheaply - they're just so expensive on Ebay!
@toypolloi9 жыл бұрын
Strat Pack Very true. I have been having trouble as well getting bits. Ebay is always over priced. But you can sometimes get lucky. When I am all done I may have a few spares.

great restoration project. Thanks for sharing all the helpful insight with us. do you think the lighter fluid trick would work on taking off dried super glue from plastic? ran into that problemnthe other day having bough a new vehicle.
@toypolloi9 жыл бұрын
DanimalsDioramas I would use super glue remover for that :D It's designed to remove the stuff without any problems.

+Toy Polloi Didn't even know it existed! lol I would guess such a substance would be available in a craft or hobby shop? Thanks for the tip mate.

DanimalsDioramas No problem. It's pretty cheap. Ebay has loads of different versions for sale.

I fitted a 9v battery in mine by adding a battery clip. Much brighter bulbs and the motor a bit quicker.

Hi, trying to get the electrics working on my 1980 Snowspeeder, I noticed that you re-soldered the capacitor and in the next clip it had been completely removed, is that because you are using AA batteries?
@toypolloi6 жыл бұрын
No, I think it the wire had just broken when I got this and it needed re-attaching. The AA batteries work fine with the original setup in this toy.

Im missing the small plastic piece that rubs against the gear to make the "laser" sound. Do you know any way to replace it or make your own?
@toypolloi3 жыл бұрын
Use a small piece of thick acetate sheet and cut to shape. Part of a plastic folder would do the job.

Hey what’s the part where the cooper plates battery’s go called as mine the acid has ruined them , can you get replacements. I can’t find them when I type in battery clips Please help
@toypolloi4 жыл бұрын
The battery connector. You can buy thin copper sheet and make a new set by cutting it and matching the old shape. Cheers

Hi, I'm trying to repair my snowspeeder, I've got it working but the lights stay on constantly without the button being pressed and they don't flash when the button is pressed, the motor sound works fine. I noticed in your video that you have a capacitor on your black wire but there isn't one on mine, just a solid wire, is this why it isn't working properly. Thanks.
@toypolloi5 жыл бұрын
it sounds like the switch is being missed out, that's why they are on the whole time. The switch pushes a contact onto the shell of the motor to complete the circuit. The lights flash because as the motor spins it pushes another two contacts together via the gear that also make the screech noise.
@moviegeek75 жыл бұрын
@@toypolloi thanks for your quick reply. Would taking the motor off and cleaning the contacts possibly solve the problem. Thanks...
@toypolloi5 жыл бұрын
It could be that the contacts the make the lights flash have bent out of shape. Check that they move apart as the gear is turned.

I’m attempting to repair mine right now and the electronics aren’t working, i took it apart and everything looks fine, all cables are firmly attached and unbroken. Do you have any idea what might be the problem? If it helps I’m repairing the us kenner version.
@toypolloi6 жыл бұрын
Are all the contacts clean? And have you turned the motor over by hand?
@juliensea6 жыл бұрын
Toy Polloi All of the battery contacts look clean, but the metal by the motor looks a little dirty. The motor spins freely without locking up. Something that I noticed is that the interior of the ship smelled like fish. The ship didn’t emit any sort of smell until I opened it, but as soon as it was opened it there was a distinct fishy smell, I doubt that has any significance, but I thought that might be worth mentioning as it may be an indicator for some problem with the electronics.
@toypolloi6 жыл бұрын
Turn the motor over when you have batteries in and are pressing the power button. This will normally fix it.
@juliensea6 жыл бұрын

Yeah, still looking for a rear engine cone and the harpoon and block. Could also do with some other bits for one I am fixing for myself.
