Maybe this has been mentioned. The Savi sabers are designed to allow you to change the crystals w/out having to take the ends (pommel and emitter ends) off. This is why the grips are a bit loose. You loosen the two grips which slide into the ends and then it allows you to separate the switch parts and access the crystal. It's not a great design but since the threads on the end are plastic, if you plan on changing your crystals out regularly with the fix in the video, you may wear out the threads on the core from having to take the ends off every time. I'd recommend, instead, using a 1.5" inner-diameter o-ring on the flange end of the grips (where they tighten to the switch part). This will allow you to loosen the grips, slide them down, and change the crystals as the saber was designed instead of taking the whole thing apart. However, if you never plan (or rarely) to change out your crystal, the fix in this video works well. I think one of the coolest things about the Savi sabers is the ability to change out the crystals so my son and I went the o-ring route and installed them towards the switch side. Tightens up the grips while still making the crystal changing feature functional.

@@btandthebear6021 O.D. =1.5”, I.D=1.375”, wall/thickness= 1/16”. Take your light saber to the hardware store and try it out to make sure you’re happy with the way it fits. It’s been working well for both of our Savi’s. Mine just became loose recently as well and these o-rings have been doing the trick allowing us to not mess with the emitter and pommel ends when replacing the crystals. Again, install these o-rings on the flank side of the grips (in between the grip and switch).

@@dilanweerasinghe6482 this is the way! I had the red slip joint washers like in the video (needed two per side for a tight fit, Elemental Nature scrap theme), but I just picked up two of the O rings at the specs you described and they work perfectly to keep the scrap snug enough but allow access to the crystal as intended. Thank you so much for this. I have been sorely disappointed by my savis workshop saber. My prices were so loose they would start to spin just holding it and there was even a but of wobble. Now it's like one solid piece and feels awesome in the hand. I do wish there were an easier way to change the kyber crystal than taking the whole thing apart

Thank you for this. Just gave it a “pew pew”with the Power and Peace sabers I built last week. For me, I found the washers to be more effective put on the opposite way with the taper facing the switch as it prevents the scrap from wobbling around the plastic core. Doubling up the washer as you are showing so the wider parts are touching makes it perfect, but Teflon tape should work fine to keep the alignment and protect the threads, too.

So I found your video today because I’ve been having this exact problem with mine since I received it. I had to ship it through the resort to get it home and I had the experience 11 days ago. When I first made it the sleeves were nice and snug but when I got it in the mail both sleeves have nothing but play. I had to use 2 gaskets on each side to get them to stop moving. Edit: but I really appreciate your video and I’ve since subscribed to your channel because I like the content I’m finding!

Thanks for this. I like that I can access my kyber crystal without removing the tip and pommel, but the grip pieces have been unscrewing themselves too easily while just handling the saber. So, this is a great cure for that.

What I would love to do is to start with the Savi’s Workshop model, but rebuild the hilt. We could do a turned aluminum (kind of $, but super cool), integrate wood - something exotic or just a nice walnut, brass tubing for the kyber crystal, and integrate all of your digital enhancements. I’m always inspired by your work but always feel like a collaboration on the visual aspects could lead to an enhanced outcome. It would be so much fun!

Thanks for the video. I tried this and it didn't help tighten the "sleeve" sections much. What worked for me is using thin 1.5" o-rings. I placed them in the middle of the "sleeve" section and then installed the sleeve. The o-ring ended up squeezed underneath the middle of the sleeve, not down by the threads. That way it could still thread into place fully, but the pressure from the o-ring creates tension that keeps the sleeve from moving, while wielding the lightsaber.

Just got back from the workshop, used them once and they're all loose (on two sabers.) I'm going to try this trick. Just a big disappointment for the price we have to pay for these things. The building experience itself was great but damn it they are so inferior to the replicas.

Good luck at changing the crystals or sleeves! Also it's a plastic on metal groove, you have probably put a pressure that was unintended by design upon it. Plumbing tape would be better.

Just built my saber yesterday and was wondering why it was loose on the lower portion. This will be a great help also yeah my parts dont align they way i want lol
@Ruthsarian Жыл бұрын
You don't have to remove the washers to change the crystal. You just need to unscrew the emitter and pommel pieces maybe halfway, which then gives you room to loosen the sleeves, which then lets you remove the switch plates. Swapping a crystal takes maybe 30 seconds to do (or less).

What about the blade wobble in the chassis? The blade is being too wobbling and the light is keep flickering when I shake it or hold it to downside. And I was told that this is a common issues. Besides the exchange call to Disney, is there anyway to fix this?
@Ruthsarian Жыл бұрын
Are you pushing the blade in and then twisting it to lock it in place?
@ark7204 Жыл бұрын
@@Ruthsarian Yes, Of course. I have two legacy sabers and I got my Savi on this Feb.02. So I know how the inserting works. Besides Kylo Ren's being sturdy enough, Reforged one has a little wobble but not too much. But Savi's chassis is... much worse.
@Ruthsarian Жыл бұрын
@@ark7204 you could contact Disney's Merchandise Guest Services via email at merchandise.guest.services@disneyor call 877-560-6477. If you contact them within 30 days of purchase they may be able to send you a replacement hilt. The only way to tighten the fit is going to be widening the blade base that plugs into the hilt. I would try adding a small piece of tape just to add some thickness to the connector, then test the fit. add more as needed until the fit feels secure. It's not a great solution, but it should work. It's also a fix you can undo later if needed and doesn't require taking anything apart, which could make things worse.

@@Ruthsarian Thank you. I'm actually working on contacting them in email. So.. so far.. this wobble thing has not been fixed but common issues since Day 1. But I'll try with both solutions and see how it goes. Shame that the Disney haven't improve their chassis yet. Honestly I can tolerate with wobble if that was a design purpose. But light flickering while moving my saber a bit is questionable haha... P.S. I wouldn't dare to take apart the chassis. The blade... maybe for customize to dark blade.
