I found a piece of broken plastic fell out! So presumably will break permanently soon although it appears to work for now! It looks as if it has one of the 4 grooves.

What if my push button lid seems to have expanded from being in the dishwasher? After popping the button up the lid hard to get out. You have to pull hard to seperate from container. Button works fine. I can't find any solution to this anywhere.

How is the steel made it to the plastic is it glued or can the steel be taken off ?

Hi Reedith, yup glued on, there is no good way to take that off without breaking it. But the steel is just decorative, all the mechanics and 'guts' are made out of plastic and can be taken apart.

I would suggest re-name this one for not just steel and plastic lids and both new and old styles of lids. there is only one other video that shows how to fix the new style lids without the metal "u" shaped contraption.

Hi BB, can you give me more details on what's not working anymore? We had the silicon gasket get 'powdery' after a long time, washing with soap helped a bit but ultimately we had to replace it. Over the years we dropped/cracked a few containers and we kept the lids for spare parts, so we just use those for replacements.

My top piece keeps separating when I try to close the lid. It isn’t stuck up or down. Do you have a suggestion on how to fix that?

Do you mean the lid keeps falling off/out of the container? If that's the case wash the silicon with warm soapy water to make it 'sticky' again.

@@CascadesHomestead No damage or bent parts. No food inside. When the button travels to the up position the slots and grooves become disengage. As if, the spring has become "too" strong and the button travels too far. It might be that the spring is not fully seated and this creates extra travel. However, you can't force the spring to seat properly. It think it's a design flaw that prevents it from being reassembled. It was the second lid I had to trash.

In my case the round top came out and was reinstalled incorrectly and the technique you demonstrated in my case did not work. Nevertheless, I thank you.
