This made it playable, followed your easy setup video but the game would crash after 15 mins . You should link this video from there. Was able to play a few hours today and I tell you the sounds of a skeleton laughing in battle was pure greatness.Great job.

A Year later and still valid TY very much. Even the worst offending zones for me (OT side of SF ramp) where i would freeze all the time, I have had no issues since this fix. Awesome!

There are some areas in dungeons where the game freezes completely. I can still hear sound though. Game won't close unless through task manager. Example: I can do lguk live side entrance for 16+ hours, then I went toward live keep and evil eye and it froze 3 times within 6 minutes. Other than that dgVoodoo has been great.

To make this actually work and make you stop crashing when using the /camp to swap characters go on the directx section and put your screen resolution there, it has to match the one in eqini too

Dgvoodoo2 fixed the annoying ResetDevice error crash I would get randomly, even though I was using WinEQ2. Highly recommended! I also run WinEQ2 in administrator mode just in case.

Getting a memory crash at startup, immediately after launch. DGVOODOO2 didn't resolve. On Windows 10 "The instruction at 0x00000000772A40E3 referenced memory at 0x0000000000000000. The memory could not be read."

So, I think the fix for this problem is to right click on your EverQuest directory and select properties, then uncheck “read only” and click apply. Then rerun DGVOODOO2.

This has fixed nothing in my end, still crash on almost every zone in, I have to control alt delete and close eq, when I reopen voodoo it’s like no changes have been made

This fixed my memory crash as well as screen freezing up. I only crashed once while zoning after about 12 hours of play. I can live with that.

Hey El Hefe, I just did this fix and it didn't work for me. Still crashing at the same frequency as before. I even made sure that it is hooking in properly and turned the watermark on, and sure enough while the game was running the watermark was there, so DGV2 is indeed working. I am at my wits end with this. Idk if it is my GPU these old games don't like 3090TI but even playing on the HorizonXI server I have alot of issues there as well. The only thing I have been able to do for this is to use WinEQ2 and that will make it so I crash a little less frequently, but its still multiple times per play session and lots of times I nearly die because of it. Do you have any other suggestions? I really just want to enjoy my favorite game of all time....

Just seen this. Your problem may be fixed, but if not you can try to right click on the shortcut, click on properties, then click the compatibility tab. Try one of those options. I think it may be xp service pack 2.

@@Grumium101 the problem still persists, but it has something to do with windows 11 + high end GPUs not wanting to play nice with these really old clients. I’ve tried compatibility mode, tried all the dgvoodoo stuff, tried fresh installs in the root drive, among other things that I can’t recall at this moment, and still none of it helps. The only thing that seems to help a little is to use wineq2 but there are some annoyances using that, I’d rather just use the base client.

So, this stops the Memory Error Crash on Windows 10, but I've never tried it on Windows 11 as I haven't upgraded yet. If you end up installing DGVoodoo2 on Windows 11 I'd love to hear if it worked for you.

From what I've read (and I've read every forum possible) Windows 11 may be one cause of the Memory error. Sad to hear this doesn't fix it. I wiped my C drive at one point which fixed the error for a few months and now it's back. Probably due to win 11. I don't get the crash on any of my Win 10 computers. I basically just bought a new laptop to play P99 with lol.
