Fix PDF Files Won't Open in Windows 10

Thanks, I run Windows 10, Office 2016. PDF files linked from an Excel worksheet that worked fine when I made them were opening then closing immediately when I tried after not using that spreadsheet for a few years. The tip "Repair Installation' worked for me.

Britec (sometimes on help desks get this a Lot) If was made in other reader then change to program installed (so right click the file Properties - change and program installed on your system (open with work too but is one off )

nice fix Brain. But you could also install sumatra pdf and set it as default pdf viewer. It's the best solution.

I am going to try some of this but the issue is the government of Canada has a file I can download and open on my Macbook using Firefox but both my wife and her friend's Windows 10 PCs come up with the same message using Chrome and Edge "This file requires Acrobat8 or higher" but both machines are up to date. I loaded Firefox on my wife's PC W10 and got the same result so it seems this is not a browser related issue and a W 10 issue. Thoughts? Thanks.

How about how to nuke Edge from orbit so it doesn't change the default apps and revert to Edge being the default app for .pdf's?
