Yeah. This is worth a try first. Less messy than glue.

I used coarse thread #6 1 & 5/8" drywall screws to hold up my sagging glue up Armstrong tiles 12"x 12". The moment the tile sags, screw it up before the bend becomes set in. The screw would have trouble overcoming the warped tile.

Oil paint will lock it down use caulk to hide screw heads

Hello I reside in my Father’s 100 year frame house. The living room drop ceiling material is similar to the one in your video however it’s rectangular shape…looks like about 3-4 maybe falling…drop top ceiling I believe it’s about 50 years old…cannot afford to replace now…would the nails that your were using in your video AND a hammer be ok-or should I pull out my new power drill (never used or even know how)

Yes. I used a small Phillips screwdriver to probe for the studs.

Our 50's ceiling appears to be a big sheet of tiles instead of separate ones with sags in a couple of places. How easy would that be to fix?

It depends on whether you not you can separate the tiles easily by cutting with a utility knife. I experienced some sections that were simple and others more challenging. Let me know what you do next,

I think removing the old staples was the hardest thing to do. I will use short drywall screws..too bad they weren’t white dry wall screws… i like the liquid paper idea. One row of tiles fell. What a headache.

The good news is these tiles are cheap, the bad news is these tiles are cheap. Lol. At least yours were stapled, I found mine were glued. That was a headache.

Maybe an idea when you can't find certain colored screws. Do like I did and spray paint them suckered the color you want and BAM you got your self some colored screws

Use a drop of caulk. Smooth it flat with a razor blade

You can use regular interior house paint, but these tiles are like sponges. They will absorb a lot of paint.

Yes they are generally pre 1979. But it can’t hurt you unless you create lots of dust. And only if you breath in a ton. So this method is not creating dust. Wear a mask. If you’re tearing out this type ceiling that will require so planning. That’s why this repair is a great option

Unless you dab white paint on the screw head with a q-tip. Then it is unnoticeable.
