I have to do my hallway from my living room to my kitchen but how do I find the Joist underneath the wood floor

Nice job and inexpensive

Will this work in laminated floor? I like this product as the installer did not put screws in the floor to eliminate squeak before they installed the laminated flooring. Could you tell where the holes are after filling the holes?

How do you know where to drill? Does it supposed to drill to the joist?
@Deebes34 жыл бұрын
@@BlondieHappyGuy You don't need to use the floor joist necessarily. If the screw just keeps spinning, take it out and use the other hole on that black guide piece. The fat part of the bit driver will stop the screw from going in too far and then you use the opposite side of the black guide to fit over the screw head and snap it off.

Will the floors start sqeeking again after a few years? I heard that the threads is not enough to hold down the floors after many steps...normally the screw head is what keeps the floor down..not the screw threads??? Does anyone know?

It is at 4:20 in the video. DAP plastic wood filler. I brought a sample of my wood floor to the store to color match.
@JimSterken4 жыл бұрын
@@diyhomeownerhero5250 That filler does not match color. You said once it dries you have a marker to make an exact match. Please show that. It would be nice to see the fully finished result at the end where the color matches exactly.
@diyhomeownerhero52503 жыл бұрын
@@JimSterken The marker was a furniture marker that matched the wood color. It was in the same isle as the putty.

You might want to mention that you need to screw into your floor support beams.

Why do you use the guide when drilling the hole? does it need to be done that way?
@abel1955 Жыл бұрын
If you have unfinished basement, it’s a lot cheaper and easy to just put glue between the gaps and add a 2x4 for support on the squeak area
@truthseekerKJV2 жыл бұрын
I recommend using a putty knife for the filler. You will use much less per hole to fill, and it will apply the filler much better.

I've put about 80 of these into the bedroom to fix 90% of squeaks. One suggestion .... DO NOT hold the black thing while you're driving in the screw. My driver slipped and cut my nail pretty badly. 4 weeks later, finger still shows the damage done.

You didn't show what you used to color in floor as a finished product. That is the 2nd most important part of this whole job. I will not use this yet b/c I am not sure how well it blends in with the grain. Just sayin.
