Thank you for this video. While the condition of my connector was fine, it was almost as if the metal contact for the A button was misaligned. It sounded "mushy" compared to the rest of the buttons. I ended up peeling just the top layer, which housed the metal contacts, using tweezers to remove the contact and placing it directly onto the motherboard contacts. I used the top layer to hold a corner of the metal contact, and then aligned it as best I could, afterwards putting the top layer on completely. This time when I pressed the A button, it sounded tactile and clicky, so I put everything back together and now it is working again. Really not sure what happened but I'll take it over buying a new joycon/membrane.

Good video ive been fixing my joycons since they had parts for them and doing shell swaps super fast.... I literally dont disconnect the battery the rumble the AI reader or however its called. I lift up everything like a sandwich to get to the membranes and buttons... Yes its delicate but once you have fix them soooooooo many times its just super easy..... The worst part for me was the R button with the super short ribbon cable but if im not doing a shell swap if im just fixing it i leave that one connected as well... Either way good video and people dont be scared its really easy just have some patience the right tools and some good music and enjoy fixing your own stuff its really relaxing and the satisfaction is priceless 😀

Do you know how to fix the plus button? There is no information about it what I can found.
@luciantendogaming6 ай бұрын
@@bjornbroekert2916RIP Mate if you lucky you just might have to clean that area where the + button is located with some alcohol and clean the membrane as well. If not as far as I know you gonna need to replace the whole joycon motherboard cause is not a ribbon cable with the button function that you can just replace that + button is literally integrated with the whole board Good luck

Where can I buy the membrane?

Aliexpress. Got two for less than two bucks. Free shipping. Came in less than two weeks. I used it on an aftermarket joycons called Joy-02. The ones with the RGB on the sides. Inside of the controllers were very different but button membranes are the same.

Can I place it however or does it have a side? and it is placed like a sticker?

Ribbon cables are intimidating but if you just don’t bend then or force them into a non natural position they shouldnt break

Awesome tutorial!! I dont have the guts to take mine apart yet but i may have to soon... My controller a and b button has a nice click to it but it only works if i press hardER on them while the y and x is fine i dont know why it does this but maybe taking it apart will resolve it... What do you guys think?

“We’re just going to need some very common tools” he says before picking up a fucking membrane made for this specific purpose

That fucking membrane is not a tool, it is a part.

Hey I just bought a switch oled, I noticed the second day that the right arrow button isn’t as tactile as the rest. Could this be a membrane issue or what do you think?

Hi and tnx!!! Where can I find the membrane?
@brokenrepairs Жыл бұрын
Most online electronics parts stores should carry these membranes alongside other merchants like Amazon. I like to use Injured Gadgets as my go to supplier for electronics parts but there are many out there. For pricing, I wouldn't really pay anything above 6 or 7 dollars for this part, I have seen Amazon sellers raise the price of these parts to $12-$20 when supply chains were disrupted which I think is ridiculous. I might one day purchase a few sheets and sell these membranes on an eBay store for 5 or 6 dollars just to give people another option because sometimes these parts go out of stock and they aren't in very high demand so suppliers aren't incentivized to restock them very often. Thanks for the great question!

I will be ordering one off of amazon & then one off of Temu to see which is better.

So, my A button seems to be pressing itself randomly. Do you think replacing the button membrane would do the trick? Or is it another problem?
@brokenrepairs Жыл бұрын
Yeah there is a good chance that this could be board related. If you ever get a chance try to take apart the joy con and inspect the membrane and button shells. Sometimes if there is debris within the shell it will randomly press itself. I would say this is a good place to start. Hopefully it won't be board related. Wishing you the best of luck!

one screw left ? where
@gregorysantilli5710 Жыл бұрын
Around 8:30, instead of putting the first mounting screw where he does, place it to the hole to the left. This way that hole will be empty for the last threw screws before the final four (outer shell).

I've made that mistake plenty of times too lol. Nice thing is those springs are pretty cheap to come by. Wishing you luck with your repair!
