I'm running into an issue where all of a sudden my "my music" folder is empty no indication of what has happened or where the files have gone, seems to be plenty of other people experiencing this too with music files just vanishing, my music documents downloads pictures and video library files are on the d drive. I build computers for friends and family and often buy faulty machines for parts any music I come across gets copied into my music folder so it is a wide variety of random music that I don't really listen to much and hasn't actually cost anything but that isn't the point. I decided today to play some songs while going about my business only to find the folder empty apart from the itunes folder. @@anuvarshini4095 hey, unfortunately I had to go down the "completely fresh reinstall path", lost A LOT of data (had heaps of corrupted files?!). On the plus side I have updated motherboard programs and a dedicated partioned HD and a SSD, so my PC is way faster. It was a bitter pill to take but my PC is more reliable now. Hopefully you get a solution that works.

Been running Widnows 10 for over 5 years. My computer ran into a problem and shutdown., When I went back in and after entering my password I get a message "preparing Windows." Afterwards all my files were gone and my desktop photo. Shutdown and went right back in and it was back to normal.

I have an issue... so recently updated my laptop and it logged me in a temporary profile. At first I didn't really think of anything. So I moved 80% of my files there. Then the next day, it logged me into my account. Therefore, I now can't access my files inside that "temporary profile"... I can't even locate the profile in the registry editor. I can still see the files in the quick access tab. However, when I try open, a message pops "unable to locate....blah..blah..blah it indicates that the file has been MOVES OR DELETED". Now I already know I moved it in the "temporary profile" but I can't seem to locate that profile. If there is any solution, please do reply to this.

If you open your C: disk and then go to Users folder can you see that temporary account folder?

Can’t delete temp profile because delete is greyed out and I have more then one temp profile. I managed to be able to delete one temp p but for the others the delete is greyed out. At first try your method worked until my pc froze again once running for an hour so I rebooted again and once again got the temp profile message

hey, i need you help. I got this error and the prompt(error message) didn't stay up long enough to read it so I just went to C:/Users/(Username)/Desktop and copied those files(old desktop files) to the desktop of the temp profile.(I also deleted the files from Desktop folder C:/Users/(Username)/Desktop ) Those files are now gone and Idk what to do. If you go to C:/Users/Temp/Desktop can you see your files? Waht about Recycle bin? If you changed in regedit those lines then try to reverse everything back and reboot. Anyway deleting those files wasn't a good idea.

Try to create a new one with the exact same name. If it still doesn't work then try using some software for data recovering.

After you have created a new profile you can go to C: \ users and open the folder of that particular user which data you want to recover. There will be Desktop and documents folders and all you need just move those files to your new account.
