I totally agree!! I was just telling my buddy this. I saw you in Nashville . I own a Tommy E. Maton and also a Maton mini. My main guitar is still my old school Taylor 614ce. Fishmaan pickup.

Love your videos.. I have ebg 808 and mini maton diesel.. the only issue I have with the small one is tuning the.small thing.. it is often going out of tune especially when I use capo.. can you give some thoughts about it? thanks.
@carlwockner3 жыл бұрын
Nice! Yeh the trouble with all shorter scale guitars are the intonation. My advise for the mini is to ensure you use 13-56 gauge strings (the tension will feel like 12-53’s on a mini) and check out Thalia capos. Then match the radius of the neck on the mini with the Thalia capo insert. I think the mini neck is a size 12. Also - always tune AFTER you put the capo on. No matter what guitar u use:)

Vital information! I use the preamp on my guitar effect and set the EQ there. Then there's no need to touch the guitar EQ away from flat!

I have a Yamaha with eq, using a combo of a compression pedal, chorus, echo/reverb. Sometimes all on, sometimes one or two. Downloaded 3-4 tracks from my logic software to a boss looper pedal that holds 3 hours of music. Only have 12 songs with the looper right now. The other 25 or so are the pedals me and my female other half of the duo. Got the looper idea from you Carl when I saw you at Acme in Nashville.

Some great advice! I would love to hear your take on the AP5 Pro (with Mic). A lot of people seem to have different opinions on how much you should dial in the internal mic. Keep up the awesome content!
@carlwockner2 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate:) I love the mic on the AP5 pro! For any standard acoustic player I think it’s great to have the Piezo set to 100 and the mic set to around 10-30%. Warm and crisp. However, for looping, or any overdrive tones etc, the mic is a bad option. It will pick up ambient noise easily which gets added to the loops and quickly becomes a problem - and you are always fighting overdrive or harsher FX if you have a pickup with a mic for acoustic. Basically it all just depends on how u use your guitar:)
@chrisannablemusic2 жыл бұрын
@@carlwockner Thanks for that! I agree about the ambient noise - the mic also puts out a "hiss" when recording at higher levels. Nice to add the mic "sparkle" but in moderation. Keep up the awesome work! Hope to see you back here in Australia sometime soon 👍

@carlwockner2 жыл бұрын
@@tozguitar yes this model is Piezo only - most of them come with a combo mic version, but I don't like the mic from my setup and tone with the overdrive etc... And if I was just going acoustic only, id probably dial back the mids a bit. But Ive made a pretty deliberately flat tone so I can use different parts of the freq when I loop.

@carlwockner3 жыл бұрын
In the loop mic? Feedback or noise? If it’s feedback then you’ll need to find a way to tune the problem frequencies out or reduce your stage volume - but if it’s just reducing noise in your loop then definitely get a mic mute switch:)

So, you always keep your guitar preamp volume all the way up?
@aqualane12 жыл бұрын
My concern is the volume. Will Turing the volume to 10 give me more sustain or compression. Where do you leave your volume at?
@carlwockner2 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure what you mean? Input volume is setting the gain for your instrument. Sustain and compression are 2 different things to adjust dynamics on a channel with separate hardware or a plugin.

What are the amp settings? When my acustic is plugged in and I adjust the EQ like you did, it totally messes up my amp EQ sound. Do you adjust the amps bass, mids, and treble first with the guitars EQ settings all the way up and then adjust the guitars pre amp EQ??

If you're unhappy with the sound of your acoustic guitar unplugged, the only real thing you can adjust is the brand and gauge of strings. Otherwise you might need another guitar that suits your tone style.

Havent think bout balancing guitar eq for not interupt vocal. Use an old Seagull S.M 6 modded with two more mics; one trancducer for rythm and one Fishman dynamic along with piezio in bridge --> effectboard --> RC300.
