When you say omni do you mean omnidirectional? Because the antenna you linked for the VTX is RHPC..?
@Witty_FPVdronesАй бұрын
That’s an omnidirectional antenna. RHCP is the polarization of the antenna. Pretty much you should run either all RHCP or all LHCP. Doesn’t matter which one just all have to be the same. Hope this helps!

Agreed, and one more hint going into the same direction: Always verify that the GND part of your VTx Antenna (SMA plug) does not have any electrical connection the the carbon frame, because the frame always carries a lot of noise.

I disagree with your statement regarding digital and not having to worry about it. I fly both and have to say that digital is is nice when not flying too far,plus the durability of the system seems to be miles better than analog components... In other than that, a good analog system is just more reliable than digital. With digital, the latency, although not terrible is definitely noticeable, and the experience of losing your signal compared to analog can be the difference between bringing your drone back or not. Plus, rapid fire has the drone finder thing where you point your goggle's antennas different ways and if your vtx is still getting power, it will beep at you more the closer you get and you can see the signal in the spectrum anaylyzer. Not necessarily a game changer, but nice when put in a specific condition of losing your drone that still is powered up.

Your comment is very complete, and what antenna do you use for the vtx and on the rapidfire
@Dunkelstrasse6 ай бұрын
I liked almost all of the information and tipps given in your video. But one of them is cocompletely wrong, and i have to correct it. You dont have to softmount the VTX to get rid of those lines in your video feed. Those lines are not there because of physical vibrations in the vtx, they appear when your vtx power delivery experiences too much electric noise from the motors. A vtx is not impacted by physical vibrations, but rather electrical vibrations (if you want to call it so). You can combat this by twisting the wires connecting the vtx and fc, as well as the camera cables.
@Witty_FPVdrones6 ай бұрын
It can be both but that is the bigger issue. I have a friend who was seeing lines and soft mounting the vtx fixed that issue.

@@Witty_FPVdrones It's pretty legit. But to clarify why I don't like them it's cause of the lenses. They are the SKY04O's but I should have got the 04X's. Mine have cheap plastic crap looking lenses but otherwise they are legit goggles that offer DVR and all the inputs/outputs etc. The nifty thing about them is that they came with a standard 5.8g diversity module that also receives audio. So I was able to buy the "Steadyview X" module that has a narrower bandwidth filter (but no audio) and combine them together to get pretty good video AND audio. The Rush Tank Max Solo VTX is 2.5W capable but also has a real audio input so you can add your own AGC mic. I always recommend that vtx.

What if I have a whoop with vtx+camera combo unit with a straight antenna soldered to the unit? Im only getting a few meters of range with a rh omni and patch antenna on the goggles
@Witty_FPVdrones6 ай бұрын
I’ve got insane range out of crappy vtx camera combos so it’s probably one of these issues: 1. You’re running too low mW on the vtx. 2. You’re on a close channel to the actual channel so it will pick up but only for a few meters Let me know if either of those suggestions fix the issue! I’ll be happy to help troubleshoot.
@Magneticitist6 ай бұрын
I've been playing around with tons of various analog stuff in the background for a while now trying to figure it out.. I use it all on RC cars so I've needed to try to find what works the best as far as penetration. If you're getting crap results with decent antennas it's time for a decent VTX. 1.2G is really the way to go but that might not be for everyone for various reasons. 5.8G is a good alternative given the bandwidth and product availability but you're almost wasting your time without a good vtx and rx. The reality is most of these antennas out there by reputable companies are very comparable. You can buy a complete crap antenna from a no name company and notice a large difference between it and something from TrueRC or Lumenier for example.. but for the most part we're not talking about gigantic improvements between what those companies have to offer. It all starts with a good VTX and ends with a good RX. The receiver needs to have high sensitivity. That sensitivity is going to make most of the difference. That's largely why those goggles modules work so much better than the cheapo stuff. They are running closer to -95dbm+ as opposed to like -85dbm tops. IMO that is going to explain the vast improvement over any antennas you choose. So if you are only getting a few meters of range, literally, then it doesn't really matter what antenna you're using. You should be exceeding that with no receiver antenna at all. Your VTX is probably trashed or something is just not right with how it's setup.
@CamdenWallraff6 ай бұрын
@@Magneticitist well as it turns out, the manufacturer has the wrong vtx tables on their site (betafpv cetus M04) and once I got the proper channels (and power levels) I now get nearly 1/2 mile on 25mw! (And also the vtx isn't burning my hands after 1 minute of being turned on) Improper Configuration seems to be the biggest range killer here. Barring that, have you found any antennas or rx modules that are slightly better than average?
@Magneticitist6 ай бұрын
@@CamdenWallraff IMO any popular goggles module is going to be fine. I use Skyzone modules in some goggles where it's basically 2 modules and 4 antennas all at once. If you use any of the cheap receivers out there they are not going to have the sensitivity to push really good range unless you have ideal conditions and clear LOS. My favorites are the TrueRC Matchstick antenna on the VTX and Lumenier double AXII 2's on the receivers + Lumenier patches as well.

I have to disagree with just maxing out the amount of gain on the VTX antenna. The radiation pattern is a large toroid, and more gain will flatten it out. This is good if you need extended range and the pattern will stay very level, but as it's going to increase the size of your nulls, it can work against a quad that flips around arbitrarily. As for digital signals, they still bear the same weaknesses as analog, but do a better job of hiding their struggles. Following good practices for analog will benefit all radio systems out there, even if you don't see it happen.
