Fix Your Gauge: How to Adjust a Pattern to your Row Gauge

It's a #knitting truth universally acknowledged that even when you get stitch gauge your row gauge will be off. Sound familiar? Today I'm showing you some quick math to help you adjust a pattern when your row gauge doesn't match. Don't worry, just some quick multiplication and division and you can get a garment that (more-or-less) matches the pattern, even when your row gauge is bonkers.
Here are the basic steps:
1. Determine your row gauge. Yes, you know it's off, but how many rows are you actually getting per inch?
2. Divide the pattern rows by the pattern row gauge to find the actual number of inches/centimeters being worked.
3. Multiply that number by your rows-per-inch to figure out how many rows you personally need to work to match the pattern measurements.
Easy peasy!

You start from the pattern gauge.I have a pattern that gives gauge for stocking stitch, as is often the case, when there is no SS at all. The body pattern is a loose lace pattern far different.

What do I do if I'm knitting a top-down raglan where the increases are every other row, my stitch length is perfect but row gauge is too many from the pattern, and at the same time the last row of the yoke ends on an increase as opposed to knitting the rest of the rows to the length before splitting sleeves!? How do I adapt the pattern to be the right yoke length with the right amount of increases? Please tell me that makes sense!
