Thanks for sharing the video - where is the On/Off Switch??

An awesome video as per usual, Brian. 😁 👌 I will say that listening to this with headphones the Joe Meek 3Q does wonders for your voice and really beefs it up - it sounds a lot crispier, detailed, fuller & richer. 😄 👍 👍 Cheers to you, my man! 🍻

Hii. Can you use this in your DAW as a plugin insert and mix a snare or kick etc ?

Just an Old musician and my son is getting into podcasting (found that I still have the Joe Meek 3Q and Meekraphone with shock mount actual case kit, that was available long time ago) so I am going to send him your Link hoping he gets an idea or intrest. (and respect for Old school stuff) ... LOL and thanks for your video.

Wait...microphones are actual. The 3Q rules, thanks for this.the ratio explanation helps quite a bit.

Sorry if this is a dumb question. You plug your mic via xlr to the preamp but how do you then connect your preamp to your audio interface? Thanks for your time Brian.
@AudioforContentCreators4 жыл бұрын
Not dumb at all! TRS out from preamp directly into one of the inputs on the interface. Could use a TRS to TRS or TRS to XLR cable. I'm using the former. Tested the latter and heard no difference.

How do you find the 5:1 ratio. In studios we normally track at 2:1 or 3:1. My worry is with dynamic singers who have -18dB of dynamic range, 5:1 is pretty heavy.
@AudioforContentCreators4 жыл бұрын
It's very heavy on this unit. If you like dynamic vocals and only want hardware compression to keep you from clipping on the way in, or control the most excessive dynamics, this isn't the right unit. Very tricky to keep the compression under control, even for spoken word. Still, the EQ is very nice.

Great video thx. I just did the same thing but got the presonus studio channel but it does the same thing (i.e. compressor, eq etc...)

Ahhh how is it?? The rest of my studio is all Presonus: AudioBox 44, Eris 8 monitors, and Studio One Professional.

@@AudioforContentCreators At first i was havng problems wth alot of noise going into my mixpre 6 but after some gain and connection tweaks, it now sounds great. The tube gives it a little warmth color, whch is nice.

Thanks man, been watching your other channel for a while, didn’t even know you had a second one! Your tips really help me out! Still in my first month of actually posting videos. I use a Rode videomic ME, and just hang it from my ceiling just out of frame, and I think it works pretty well? I’d really value your input if you ever had a minute (couple videos ago is when I’m actually talking) no worries if not, dude, I still enjoy your content 👍✌️

Hi Sean, thanks for joining us here! Yep, this is an entire channel just dedicated to audio (and a bit of video) production, since I switched my main channel over to being a hub for my professional work as a human connection specialist. I've also got a full-fledged online course in beginner audio, "Audio 101 for Content Creators" which you'll find at Audio101.info Can you point me to a specific video you'd like me to check out? I'll see if I can get to it in the next day or two. Best, Brian

Audio for Content Creators hey, thanks Brian! I really appreciate you taking the time out to help out a newbie, that shows a lot 🙏 kzbin.info/www/bejne/gpiuo52pfZuAaNk is the latest video of me talking, and I think my next upload will already be a big improvement, as I’ve been practicing and tweaking some things. Cheers man! Take care ✌️

Sounds pretty good. The Rode Me is a bright, somewhat tinny mic to begin with, and there isn't much you can do about it. Having said that, you've got it in a position where it picks up the deepness of your voice well. There's definitely background hiss you can hear when there isn't any music. That may be the mic itself, the adapter, or the crappy M50 preamp. Hard to say. But all in, great job!

Hey, this is the top review I am buying re20 right know and need more gain for it, don't think, that my native inst ka6 can handle it) Trying to decide which one is better: dbx 286s or Joe Meek 3Q ? Do you have any information about it? Thank you!
@AudioforContentCreators4 жыл бұрын
Definitely the DVX 286s. This Joe Meek is really tricky to reign in for spoken word. It's much more designed for musical applications.
@vladlabyrinth63354 жыл бұрын
@@AudioforContentCreators I am looking to use it for singing (plus guitar/bass in line) Just read that 286 makes the sound plastic...
@AudioforContentCreators4 жыл бұрын
Ohhhh yeah for sure. You'll love the Meek. The EQ in particular is truly beautiful. Just be gentle with the compressor. It pumps easily.

Yo! I had the same GT mic when I purchased my Joe Meek 3Q and together they sound sooooo good! (Circa 2009) The mic took a fall due to a careless client and was destroyed. My Joe Meek 3Q currently needs some TLC as some of the caps need repair

The EQ settings are quite fierce. The mid range and top shot up like banshees. Soon becomes sibilant. It probably needs just tiny adjustents, I think. Love the compression adjustments. The idea of hearing instant feedback on the headphone is great. Still needs care though because once done, it can’t be undone on the video. I have this battle 3very time I record songs ..... What to do with the EQ and whether to wait or process while recording. I’m a coward. I do it later! Units like that are used all of the time on live radio broadcasts.
