I'm tickled to discover your KZbin channel. I've been learning/trying to speak Thai for 45 years, but, since I rarely get a chance to speak it anymore, I've been forgetting it. I've been learning lots of new (or forgotten) vocabulary words from your videos. I've also learned new grammar patterns. Korp Khun maak maak!

Your videos are always informative, interesting, pleasant to watch and I am seriously addicted. There is one small issue though, if I might suggest you work on getting the sound at a uniform level throughout the separate clips because I continually have to turn the volume up and down. Keep up the good work Kru Mod and I look forward to seeing many more of your videos.

Oh, wow. My Thai teacher spent like 20 minutes trying to explain this concept to me, but she refused to speak English during class. So I just didn't get it. You just come in and say in a few minutes that it is Present Perfect Continuous, and all I can say is THANK YOU for being so direct.

Sawatdee ka khun David, thank you for your kind comment. I am glad to hear that you found this lesson useful. :) Life is good here, hope all is well with you too. :)
It is a very good idea to write your sentences on a white paper. It is much easier to read. Please go on.

The problem for me when speaking Thai is that it is a very expressive language in comparison with English, I am not a very expressive person when talking, some of my friends and even strangers say to me that I behave in a manner similar to an expressionless robot. I am no master at English but I have a good command of the language and will surely master Thai after several years of self-study, I am dedicated to learn for my ที่รัก. I must add, you have been uploading videos for years now and you haven't aged a day, สวยมากๆ.

Great lesson. I am a little embarrassed to say ผมเรียนภาษาไทยมา 6 ปีแล้ว but still did not know how to use มา properly to show past tense. How would I add "on and off" to the end of the sentence? (Meaning I haven't been learning continuously for the 6 years, but take long breaks..ผมขี้เกียจ 555)
@ThaiwithMod4 жыл бұрын
You can form the phrase "on and off" in Thai with this " verb (repeat twice) + หยุดๆ" i.e. "study on and off" is เรียนๆหยุดๆ /rain-rain yùt-yùt/. The whole sentence would be ผมเรียนๆหยุดๆ มา 6 ปีแล้ว or ผมเรียนภาษาไทยแบบเรียนๆหยุดๆมา 6 ปีแล้ว. :)

The pronunciation of these two words are similar. To be able to hear the difference you should train your ears by practice listening, you can use this lesson for listening practice : learnthaiwithmod.com/2019/10/video-listen-better-speak-better/

It's an adjective meaning.. in despair, completely discouraged, without hope, dispirited.. So in this context you could translate the sentence into natural sounding English something like: "You can't mope around the house all day like this."
