FIXED: Purex Triton MinMax Plus 400 water heating issue, short cycling heat, and status light in spa

Here’s a video of how I fixed the short cycle issue on my Purex Triton MinMax Plus 400 spa heater. The status light kept coming on and it was taking a long time to heat the water.

Very informative. We will start needing the heater in a month or so. Before I call a repair person I am going to study the youtube videos and see what I can do on my own. It is good to know what is necessary that we can do ourselves. This was an easy do. Easy to remove as shown in the video. I applied a bit of penetrating oil to help loosen the bolts. Ours had a large scale deposit around the shaft under the thermal head. I removed the rusty looking scale with a couple of light taps with a hammer and scoured what remained with a wire brush. The shaft under the thermal head is corroded nearly half in two but still solid. Hopefully good for a few more years. I am adding to my annual maintenance schedule. Definitely worth seeing after. A stitch in time saves nine.

There are some other parts on this I may replace in the future. If I do, I'll be sure to make a video. I haven't tried to heat the whole pool yet and I want to be sure it's operating correctly. For heating the spa, this was a big improvement. Thanks for watching!

I have the same unit. When I bought my home in 12/22 the heater has been disconnected from the system. I wish I knew what failed. Do you know if there's a way to run diagnostics without it being hooked to a water supply? Thanks in advance.

I found a service manual online that had listed the error codes on the control board. I think most of the error conditions require the system to be hooked up because it’s checking for flow, water temp, pressure, etc. www.manualslib.com/manual/918823/Pentair-Minimax-Plus.html

Amigo tengo una muy parecida. Esa parte de la pieza no trae tornillos, trae una tapa de 4 pulgadas. Pregunta, que temperatura hay a la salida del equipo. Saludos y buen aporte. Desde san Luis Potosí México.

Creo que amazon ya no tiene la parte. No midí la temperatura, pero puedo calentar el agua del spa a aproximadamente 1 grado por minuto. ¡Gracias por ver mi video!

Same unit here, it heats the pool however when i switch to spa all the light's turn off and it does not heat? Any suggestions?
