Fixing 4x4 Issues Vacuum Leaks 2002 Kia Sportage 4X4

THE HUBS ARE VACUUM OPERATED. ANY LEAK AND THEY DONT WORK. I MAY END UP PUTTING ON LOCKING HUBS AS THEY ARE MORE RELIABLE.

Haven't had issues with my vacuum hubs yet wheeling mine hard on 4 inch lift and 30s and I like not needing to go out in the snow to engage the hubs

That’s why you engage them before you get into snow and just leave the t case in 2wd.

@Zach this reply makes no sense vacuum hubs aren't engaged unless it's in 4wd and even if I could put it in 2wd that wouldn't be ideal since I have ratchet lockers front and rear

If you complete this repair and 4wd still doesn't work it is likely a torn diaphragm in the hub. You can either replace the diaphragm or for piece of mind install a set of manual locking hubs. Be sure to block the vacuum line at the engine.

hey man you had helped me a few months back with an issue I had in my kia. my question for you is that I have a 2001 kia sportage limited 4x4 manual transmission and I cant find the dipstick you use to check for the transmission fluid. where is it in your car since Im assuming we have the same engine (2.0 4 cylinder engine )

G,day Manual 's don't have a dipstick. Just the fill point. If its full there you're all good. I believe its a 14mm or 16mm allen key from memory. If you don't have the allen key, use a bolt head and lock some nuts up to it or weld a nut to the bolt. Hope this helps. Have a good one

hello brother. i have 1998 kia sportage, but the 4wd vacuum line was missing. can i know from where to connect the vacuum line to the hub ? i really appreciate if make a short video about it. thank you very much

I don't have it any more, however I would recommend just getting locking hubs. Vacuum works to a point, but locking hubs a manually operated that always work with a price under $100. leave the lines off and blocked.
