Fixing a bad volume control encoder on home stereo. pioneer vsx-d709s

this was $40 at goodwill. didn't sell. sat for a month and sold for $2. when the color tag came up for 50% off no one wanted it still. so the next week any leftover color tags are $2.
They get stuff doanted free and price it at retail. in this case they quickly search ebay and dont bother seeing what the completed listings are going for. they mark it at the highest listing price they find and about 5% less of that.
They claim to be a non profit 401c but their ceos make millions a year. support your local goodwill.
Anyway they do some good but they're really made a exploit out of it.
anyway in this video I will tear apart this thing and attempt to clean the rotary encoder and put it back together and see if it works correctly thank you for watching don't forget to subscribe and share this video if you know anybody that's interested in this kind of stuff.

Do you think contact spray would help? I have an older Pioneer receiver and the audio will drop out when the volume dial is set around 9 o'clock, then come back around 12 - 2 o'clock. By then it's super loud. thanks!

No, because it's an optical encoder rather than a variable resistor.
