I just went thru this with my 2002 Chevy Trailblazer... didn't have a spare bolt handy but I found a galvanized nail and it works great.

A set of two bar magnets at harbor freight costs 99 cents. Put one on top inside door and one on bottom. Boom fixed

Sorry your the channel getting this, but I've watched about a dozen videos on the fuel door pin breaking and not holding the spring anymore. What ALL the videos have in common, is the use of a welder. Not everybody has a welder; I don't. I am pretty certain I can figure out how to attach a facsimile of that pin by bolting something to the hinge assembly. I'm just a bit frustrated all, so far, assume I've got a welder. Nice video, especially if a guy has a welder.

I had the same thing happen with my 2002 Yukon. I don't have welding equipment. It's impossible to find an OEM fuel door. I'm using duct tape till a replacement door comes in.

So, mine wouldn't stay shut- good idea but i don't have a welder- so I took a short rubber bungie cord, reached up in there, hooked it, stretched it down, and hooked it on the inside the wheel well- done, works great! actually JB weld might have worked!

My sister has an 04 Camry with missing gas door. I took a quick look at it last night in the dark and it seems like the bracket is still there and is fastened on with 2 rivets. If I install a new door, has anyone had to drill out those rivets and replace the rivets with 2 screws? Would sheet metal screws grip it? Because after a quick look at it in the dark, it seemed like there is no way to get a nut behind the metal of the car if I were to use a screw and nut. What about welding it on? Do you think about $25 would be a fair price to pay to have it welded on? Any ideas or advice appreciated.

@@jtmoffroad it's all good. Thanks for getting back to me. I tried welding a screw on but it twisted and the spring wouldn't hook. I'm gonna try again with lower heat and a slightly thicker bolt tho. Thanks for the video

Could you technically use a billet style fuel door cover instead of doing this? I don’t have welding equipment lmao
