Hi Rollingmetal, When i was in Amsterdam 3 yrs ago ,I bought this exact saddle for 20 euro in the Waterlooplein market. It needs to be refurbished ...and the metal studs are nibbling away at my trousers( I think i need to flatten/tighten them ). Your video has given me the knowledge to do this now ...and I thank you for it! Best Wishes, Vincent.

You could try and replace the metal rivet with copper ones. I might try that one day, perhaps even make my own rivets :)

Excellent work on the leather, congratulations You need to clean the metal of rust

Nice video, I have Brooks saddles on 2 of my bikes, I never adjust the nose. When they start to sag, I lace them. If you use the adjuster bolt, when it is all the way on the travel, then it needs to be thrown away. Got about 4000 miles before the sag started, the lacing brings back the comfort.

I have 2 old leather seats i picked up and they're the most comfortable seats i own out of my 35 bikes - never did anything to them , just installed and rode
@DavoShed3 жыл бұрын
The under side of the seat is the side that would have faced the inside of the animal. The outer side was the fury side :) Once leather dries out like that is is pretty much gone. Looks like you saved it (I like the background music by the way) I think you are right. The internet does not inspire creativity, it stifles it. :). Better to think for yourself first.

I though the inside looked a bit weird, a bit stringy, almost like straw / burlap. Glad you liked the music. but it's a bit subjective and it won't be to anyone's taste :) But I liked it and it kinda distracts from all the talking bits.

I needed to see how the saddle tightening nut and sub frame was fitted to the main frame. THANK YOU.😁 May be parts missing though😟

The pin at the front was fine and didn't need to be replaced!

spanner heads are offset so you can flip them between turns to give an extra quarter turn. makes nuts in awkward places easier to turn

I was given the Brooks settle with cracked leather I thought I could get it repaired to no avail. I want to save it so bad.

More than likely it was a Whitworth nut 5/16" . M8 will fit sometimes if the bolt is worn or undersize enough.

I now know that Brooks are a rather traditional company but I doubt that they would still be using Whitworth :) And apparently they do make a special Brooks spanner, I just made one with my trusty angle grinder :)

I have the opposite problem, I have plenty of imperial nuts but very few metric!
@Rolingmetal3 жыл бұрын
How is it do most stores over there, stock both metric and imperial? Or do they need to order metric fasteners if you want to buy some?

Probably a 5/16-24 thread nut. Very common here in the USA.

You will not find that stuff over here. Rather annoying if you need some nuts for an old tractor :(

When testing that one You should have had a dipher in addition to that plastic bag. You never know which rivet decides to surprise You on the first trip :)

5 negative reviews on this video, whtat's wron with people nowadays??
@Rolingmetal3 жыл бұрын
I'm not too bothered by some thumbs down. Usually videos get too much thumbs up anyway i.m.h.o. If there was the option to disable those thumbs ups and downs, I would do it immediately. But I can understand that KZbin needs some metric to regulate the success of a video. But I'm not willing to start begging for likes, subs and comments! but I would like to get back some of the former success of the channel :)
