Dear Laura, I love seeing your videos. You are almost always so happy and bubbly. I am sorry about the loss of your grandfather. Your tribute was very touching. I used to work on various farms and it's so great to get to share with you all the various farming activities. Although I live in Albuquerque, I bought a 1941 Farmall M tractor and had it in my yard for almost 20 years. That was what I used to work on when I worked on my uncle's farm. You demonstrate and explain everything you are doing very well and it's such a great learning experience for me, as well as being very entertaining. I see some of the things I wanted to tell you have already been mentioned in the comments below, but I wanted to mention to you that the word idle means that an engine is running at its lowest speed and usually not doing any work. So instead of saying "idle up", you might consider saying I'm throttling up or I'm increasing the rpms or as your dad said the other day, moving the throttle to "full bunny". The only other thing I'd like to mention, and that I know you are already aware of, is the spinning shafts on the pivots which run the pumps. Each one of those should have a guard on it, preferably one your hair can't get down through. If your hair ever got caught in one of those spinning shafts it would be disastrous. You probably would not survive. Same thing with spinning belts on other machinery. Many of the old time farmers were missing a finger or two and it was because of those pulleys and belts. You are so cute, please don't let anything happen to you. Farming can be very dangerous. Please keep up your wonderful videos and we will all continue to share them with you. Tell your dad I like his videos, too. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas. Tom

Laura that is so funny when you mention about taking dirt from one pile to another pile, I had do something very similar earlier this year, and a while ago you mentioned about harvesters and tractors going along the road, that is a common thing for me where I live in Victoria Australia, I am about 20 minutes outside of Ballarat and I had pull my car off to one side of the road to let a harvester drive past and a tractor pulling a grain cart.

Laura, glad your back! We have a square drag made out of roughly 10x6 square tubing, roughly 9' wide. All you want to pull with 80 PTO HP when it gets a load piled ahead of it, would work nicely to level your road. I use it quite often to smooth fields and mole hills.

Your Bobcat is more than capable of smoothing out your road. Just run over it forward with the bucket level and at ground level. That will gather up all of the high spots. Now at the edge of the road dump the excess dirt and then tilt your bucket down and back drag the dirt you have gathered. It may take a few passes to make it level, but it will work well. Good luck. I like your videos and enthusiasm.

Never use grease on a tire. The tire is made of oil and the grease can damage the rubber. Get a tub of Murphy's soap or tire butter. It works great and will not hurt a very expensive tire. I ran a farm service truck for 25 years and that made me cringe. Lol. Love your videos. I miss being on the farms and dealing with the local Indiana farmers. Have a great holiday season.

It's not considered a 'river' that would need to flow or drain somewhere, it's more a catch 'basin' to divert water from the road. Eventually soaks into the surroundings.. very common on unpaved roads. Not sure if the catch has a name other than what it simply does.

@@steven.h0629 I live on a Gravel Road and I'm from Iowa I had to get a permit and inspection and draw up plans on the size and ramp leading to the Driveway with Culvert angled ends just so if a driver went off the roadway into the ditch he wouldn't hit a wall of dirt and get killed... the ditch is considered part of the roadway and will be maintained by the county that you live in

I was also about to point out that not having a culvert defeats the point of having a drainage ditch, as it can not longer drain.

I'm in Victoria, Australia and there is no way that we can do anything like that next to a public road without getting authorisation from the local government council even if it is on your own land. Definitely a water pipe or culvert should have been installed first even if it doesn't rain much in Nebraska, you still get storms every once in a while, that's why there is a ditch there in the first place.
