Thanks for watching. This trimmer was supposed to be tough to start but that wasn't the case at all.

Hey bro, what's up? This was a nice simple repair video. A couple of years ago I had a similar fuel leak on my chainsaw and I repaired it myself by just observing how it was installed.

Easy fix. These fixes are the best. I would buy bulk quantities of purge bulbs like you did, and modify the one like this in the video.

best choice is bulk buys, and if you don't need the other parts, just sell them

Glad you got an E-Z one this time. The primer bulb on my 85 Stihl blower was brown when I got it but it didn't leak and since I had a spare I figured if it ain't broke, don't mess with it. I always ran Stihl mix oil, first with pump ethanol gas, then non-ethanol and lastly, Tru-fuel. I had that thing for years and when my pal that owns his own shop came and got it, it was that same bulb, still brown but still working. Sometime our thinking box can get strange shapes. Happy week!

nice, the right fuel can keep that bulb in good shape for a good long time.

In the interest of time, I would probably order a replacement bulb. Great fix! Thanks.

Yep...I would do the exact same thing for the purge bulb. Great maintenance refresh project for this older trimmer. They are well made machines that are great for the homeowner or start up lawn care provider (how do I know? They are what I used to use and they served me well for a low price to performance option)...Either way - the best thing anyone could do for that reliable trimmer is to put an Echo Speed Feed 400 head on it...trust me - you will never go back to any other type of trimmer head after using one...

in this on, I would use a conventional 2 stroke oil but I'm not sure of the brand.

It would depend on the situation. If it was a beat up machine with a low profit margin, then I would give it a try, but I would definitely test it thoroughly so that I don't sell something that isn't going to be reliable for the new owner. Generally speaking, I rarely do rig jobs on anything I am going to sell. A lot of my business is word of mouth, so the words coming out of peoples' mouths about me need to be good. I don't want to risk my reputation to save a couple of dollars. If I can't do it right and make money on the machine, then it will either get parted out or go into purgatory until I get a parts machine.

I know what you mean, I would of course stand behind the work I did and make it right if it were to break. I have done this mod, several times, in the last 2 years and none of them have failed so I'd be happy to have save the customer a couple of bucks if they'd ask me to do it .

Speaking of parts machines, I recently parted out a 2003 Craftsman with a Briggs 6.25 Quantum that had a rusted out deck. I got it running before tearing it down. The engine runs great, but all of the bolts were badly rusted and seized, and I broke two of the engine mounting bolts. I don't have a lot of experience drilling bolts out and retapping, and I don't want to risk ruining this engine by screwing it up. Do you know any tips or tricks for getting them out?
@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE
@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE 22 сағат бұрын
well unless you have a large drill press, which will help to keep the drill from walking, I'd just use multiple drill bits in increasing sizes. This will be more forgiving when trying to keep the drill in the middle. After you get close, you'll need to use a tap to clean up the threads. I don't like doing this repair, because it can go wrong fast
@jesterr7133

@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE That's exactly what I am worried about. The engine runs great, and I am scared to death of screwing it up. If I am unable to retap it, do you think it is safe to use some type of nut to secure the bolt?
@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE
@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE 3 сағат бұрын
oh you mean drilling out the bolt and not tapping but instead using a nut and bolt? Sure, just make sure to use a medium strength thread locker or a locking nut to keep it from coming loose.

well for me i,d rather stick with the orignial idea of the Primer/Purge Bulb personally and i did a job very similar once a Ryobi Trimmer which is a Model RLTGM25CS and that,s a Bent Shaft unit type and that,s a very similar make to the engine you worked on for sure.

What would you recommend for my case where I like repairing engines, and would like to make a few bucks of off them. But I am only at the age of 15, how would I sell engines and people would trust me for a realistic price? One thing I do not want to do is to sell a good engine for 20 bucks cad. What the heck do I do?
@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE
@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE 22 сағат бұрын
I'm guessing you're talking about small engines right? If so, place an Ad, and see how it goes. You'll be surprised where it can go from there. As far as trust, that depends on you. Fix it right and then let them know how to take care of it. And if it doesn't last, well that's on them. you can't watch it after it leaves your hands
