I am glad you (briefly) mentioned cleaning the lens. I have just fixed this exact model with the same problem, and *that was all it took* !! Anyone reading this: please *try cleaning the lens first* before carrying out anything more drastic like completely replacing the transport. I dread to think how many of these beautiful looking and sounding players have ended up in landfill because of a couple specks of dust on the laser! I found mine in the recycling bin with AC cord chopped off.. very glad to have saved it.

Yes it’s so true. More often than not when a cd player is not working, it’s a simple fix, like the lens needs cleaning or it just needs a new tray belt! Glad you saved your one!

Just replaced the drive and laser on my old Marantz 53 using your video. All working perfectly again thanks to you! Yours was the best 'How to' I found online. Brilliant job. Thanks! 👍

That’s great to hear - thanks! I’m still a complete YT novice and that has made my day! So glad I could help.

Thank you so much for this...had the exact same issue, ordered the part, followed your tutorial and my Marantz CD1020 is playing discs like new again :) Thank you!

Hey Sonic Salvage. Have a 67SE that had the very issue described in this video. Ordered the new mechanism and followed your video. Same as a previous comment, this was the best “how to” video and was super simple to follow. I actually enjoyed the narrative as well, quite entertaining and thanks for not making it boring.

I wish this video was up when I did my JB940. I found the Sony service manual, and did it the hard way. a £3 belt did the job perfectly though.

Could you do a video on how to replace the laser diode in a Matsushita CR-571-B/CR-572-B CD-ROM drive?
@SonicSalvagex5 күн бұрын
Would love to, but unfortunately, I don’t really do computer hardware I’m afraid
@richardgray1311855 күн бұрын
@@SonicSalvagex Not a problem. Over the Christmas period I figured out not only how to disassemble and reassemble a CR-571-B/CR-572-B but I've also learned how to troubleshoot and fault find every component in the CD-ROM, including how to repair chips on the circuit board. It's a wonderful feeling!

Do you know if this will be a similar process and part for the marantz CD-6005?
@AdrianPoole-e1l3 күн бұрын
Any idea why my same model cd player won't play until it warms up?
@SonicSalvagex2 күн бұрын
I would say probably most likely failing capacitors or cold solder joints on the board.
@AdrianPoole-e1l2 күн бұрын
@SonicSalvagex Thank you! Repairable?
@SonicSalvagex2 күн бұрын
@AdrianPoole-e1l Almost everything is repairable. It’s whether it’s cost effective to do so that is the real question. If you are unable to do the work yourself, then the time you pay for someone to do it for you (and parts) it would in most cases be cheaper just to buy a new player ( as in another 2nd hand similar one) at this sort of price level.

I have one problem one of the RCA output connectors on Marantz CD63MKII original SE is not sending the sound signal in the left speaker, when I move the cable's lug up the sound appears in the left speaker, when I released it the sound dissapears, please I need an advice how to repair this since I am not an electronist.
@SonicSalvagex6 ай бұрын
Hi! If you mean coming from the cd player RCA end then it sounds like a dry solder joint around the speaker terminals. Not a big job but if you are not familiar with electronics or you don’t have a soldering iron it maybe something you will need to get help with. Let me know if you need anymore advise

My Marantz CD tray broke,no way to fix it gues i have to trash it 😢
@SonicSalvagex6 ай бұрын
I wouldn’t trash it just yet. Is it the same model as this one or a fairly expensive one? If so it may be worth seeing if you can source a tray from another cheap lesser model on eBay. Many of them share the same tray and if you buy a broken one that’s in a poor state but the tray is okay, you should be able to pick it up really cheap then just swap the tray across. Just an idea!

@SonicSalvagex My marantz was skipping, but I just took it apart as per your video and cleaned all the gunk. Worked a treat, for now. If I do ever need to replace the laser mechanism, have you any concerns about the quality of those unbranded replacement parts?
