Fixing a MK1 focus door that will not open.

I fixed mine by simply used ACdelco spray cleaner…liberally spray into the lock at door edge and into the gap on the handle and door, till you notice it drips from the lower door part. Same time lower the window and raise it up couple of times. Didn’t need to open nothing. Good luck folks and thank you still for your video and effort behind it.

Thanks for this mate, I recently subbed and this problem just appeared a week ago. My trim wear areas are also ratty with the paint layer coming off in places. I’ll check a few Yt tutorials for tip before I restore them, Ive seen the trim paint sold. I like you fix but I may try Ford Escort Van Projects adjustment method as per the comment below. The passenger side feels like a bolt action rifle still, as new, I need to take more ladies out! Cancel that, I forgot about the carnage that rings cause to the door handle recesses. Thanks

i had this problem on a mk 1 focus, and later bought a second one, it was fine for a year or so, and it got the problem too. front passenger door on both (same door as yours technically, the driver is on the left hand side)

Just now have similar problem Door will not open from outside or inside. When i pull inside handle i can hear the door lock engaging. if i press unlock on keyfob driver door lock locks and unlocks 3 or 5 times real quick and does not stay unlocked.

There are also a few new KZbin diy ST170 channels I’ve found that I’m following. It pays to run a search every few weeks. I’m compiling content as well. But I don’t really want to duplicate what has been done well by others. My first project will be my blown clutch on the MT285 with the RTS single mass clutch. Due to the lighting and space I want to make it clearer for people to see what is going on and use outlining and arrows on video editing software for clarity. The little cheap wifi oscilloscope I bought should be handy as well. This project has motivated me to do more with my poor neglected and abused cars.

I had this problem with mine, i removed full door mech off, the top off the rod is threaded and it can be adjusted, i posted this fault on the focus pages didnt need to bend the rod at all, since i adjusted it been opening fine

You do not show what adjusted and you didn't lock it back and open it with remote

The question has to be why was it bent? And will it bend again?

It's bent .. there's an adjuster on the end of that steel shaft. It says in the manual... "Be careful you don't break it.. you made need a new one"

Sheesh! Did you ever get the door open? Is the problem resolved? I’m dealing with this on an ‘07 Focus (US model) and am wondering if I need to actually replace the reinforcement. To get the door open, on nice days, I leave the window open enough to reach inside or reach across from passenger side or via the rear driver’s side door.
