My printer has this flag thing that continuously blocks my paper from coming out. I waste so much ink and paper due to this. It is making me really frustrated

It's a little rubber flag located in the cartridge path, and it is too high up and paper keeps getting caught. I feel like if I cut it down it should be fine, but at the same time Idk if that would mess up the printer
