Fixing a Pocket Digital Scale that Won't Calibrate

This 50.00g digital scale stopped working for an unknown reason, and could not be calibrated to fix it. After further inspection I realized the scale still accurately measured negative values. I opened the scale and flipped the resistive sensor and now the scale works (albeit in negative values).
The kicker is, now when I lift the weighing platform, it shows me a proper positive number - reversing the fix brings the problems back.
STEP BY STEP

1. Pry the weighing surface off
2. Ensure screws below are tight, if not tighten and test scale
3. Remove screws
4. Flip the scale and open the battery compartment
5. Remove the next two screws attaching the sensor
6. Flip the sensor and re-assemble

BeatBum Gaming sometimes all you need to do is take something to bits and re assemble it to get it working again.

My scale kept giving me erratic readings, so i tried to ripen the plate off with my hand, but i realized it doesnt come off the same as yours, so i pressed it back on, and then the scale works perfectly now

Any idea why a digital pocket scale will calibrate with a 50 g weight but when you tare it will always show a negative number not zero. Is that due to air pressure or is my scale going to be off by the negative value shown?

It seems as if your scale isn't actually calibrating. The circuitry is likely faulty, being unable to hit its zero point reliably. Does the number continue to move lower after being tared? It's certainly not air pressure, but you may be able to do some simple math to account for the error. Try weighing your 50g weight after tare, what do you get? What about a smaller tar weight?

So i just bought my scale and tared it to 0 then tried to calibrate but the weight is still wrong. It’s telling me a penny is 11.9 grams. Pennies are 2.5 gs. I don’t have a silver top just the little black box ones. Do i need to take it back and get s new one

Open it, clean it with alcohol and an old toothbrush (we try to clean of corrosion bridges). If this doesn't work, resolder the connections with a soldering iron (if you have one). Hope that helped

my scale base doesn't come off like that one and it keeps reading negative and I did all the settings and used the 5 nickles and it's reading 258.8 grams. it's a us-750EX

The kitchen scale says it's a whole number weight because it's rounded to whole grams, whereas the pocket scale weighs in one hundredth of a gram increments. The scale needs to be re-calibrated after this type of repair to ensure accuracy - I'm not weighing a loonie if you were expecting the classic 7g test.

Sounds like you are in need of a calibration. That's a whole different process.

@@justinoconnell4612 calibrate with the correct weight. If calibrated with an incorrect weight, they will never read correctly. If they cannot calibrate from a brand new state, return them.

+Tj1056 The scale is likely out of calibration or has a circuitry fault. Try calibrating, and if that fails - disassemble and reassemble.

Look up the model number to find more information and a user manual, then try to re-calibrate. A reputable brand name product will have a website or phone number with useful information.

Yes, there are 2 down there pointing up, and 2 up under the plate pointing down. All 4 must be removed to adjust the sensor.

i have seen 100 posts all over the web and a bunch on this feed even with the same problem i have, i calibrated them and now they say full, you can't push anything except on and off, there isnt one gd solution anywhere, everyone just ignores the question, is there anyone with enough fu--in sense to know what this means? if you dont answer this then you dont deserve a video, be the one scale guru that doesnt say, oh um look online, tried it, and its useless

It says fill because its over weight. If it isn't holding anything up but still says full then use your brain. The pressure sensor must he compressed right? Lol. Either the sensor is crushed and needs to be fluffed out to up crush it. Or something is keeping it heavier than it should be. How much weed crystals have gotten Inside, maybe it'd gummed up into a downward direction, making it think there stuff on it

Can you help me please? I tried everything and didn’t change anything.. My Fuzion 200g x 0.01 was working well, always asked for 100g calibration, today I wanted to recalibrate, and it asked 500g instead. Now when weighting it is saying 0g. My rockstar can is 4.6g…. When trying to recalibrate, it asks again to put 500g, but when doing so, Err E code appear and it closes. I’m pretty sure there’s still something to do with that scale. 😅 I don’t want to throw it away and buy a new one. This one was working A1 until it decided to ask me to calibrate it with a weight higher than what it was meant to weight (200g)
