Fixing a rivnut with no special tools

Fixing a spinning rivnut in a frame with no special tools. Had to recrimp the gas tank hold down nuts. Hope it helps someone

Nice. The vice grip idea just helped me out. I want to add.. if you have the original rivnut install tool, you can always gently screw it in to the loose rivnut and re-crush it. I did this while loosening and repeating, until I was confident I got it tight again.

I know that positive terminal was insulated but I was still squinting my eyes😖lol

What if the rivnut spins with the bolt stuck in it how would you remove that?

I have had that happen, Try and get something like a flat tipped screwdriver and press it into the lip of the rivnut to try and put pressure to keep it from spinning. Or if you can get plyers on the rivnut lip to hold it...... If possible.

Just stick a grip washer under the nut it will hold the rivnut in place or a star washer if you want to call it that but either way it will stop the rivnut from rotating when tighten the bolt
