How to Remove STRIPPED Rivnuts FAST ! EASY!

I have some loose rivnuts and a stripped rivnut that all need to be replaced - I show you how to do it without damaging the host metal

??? you can't take your headliner off? or they're closed off by second layer of metal? Either way you should be able to drill them out with some finessing angling the drill bit or try a thin sawblade anything to get the cap of the rivet out and you can put a new rivet in or drill out to a larger size . lmk what your issue is and application

Rivnuts are like threaded pop rivets. Most people wouldn’t want to remove headliner to remove blind fasteners. Since you have a grinder could cut off the blind side. Loose spinning blind fasteners can be hard to remove. Make sure they are firmly installed initially. The proper installation tool would likely not strip threads as it doesn’t have to rotate to pull.

Very helpful. I had siezed, rusty license plate screws. Got one out, broke the head of the other and body with nut fell inside the trim body. Never used rivnuts before and we stripped it in the hole so it spins now. Since it's only a license plate, do you think i could just put a drywall anchor inside the stripped rivnut? My other options are to take the interior trim off the hatchback and replace the rivnut or try to tap it.

Just clean the threads really good on the bolt and crush nut and use a little anti-seize won't have any issues as long as u don't over torque them, it causes the threads to get weak and after removing them it will pull the threads with it, I mean if they are in there for yrs that is.

Using a multi-grip rivet, cross rivet would be better.
