I wish Donnie lived near me in Australia NSW Wollongong, then he could give us a quote on servicing our two airconditioning units. Big salute to Donnie, Ronnie and Joe, love your work. Anthony.

I repaired mine, you need to put the "blue" hose on the suction side, which is the port you were placing the red hose on- it should read about 90-120psi when the compressor is running, you can put a vacuum on this port and evacuate all of the freon, and then put in a measured amount (2lbs 2oz) and it should have the proper temp drop, I've now gone through 4 of these units in under 3 years, they have some serious quality control issues, it needs to be 410a, not 134a, because the pressures are all different between the two

Probably ended up getting another unit I hear the same things these machines evidently are pieces of junk

Hey Donnie, Look for oil deposits on the solder joints to find you leak. I won't go tech on you and Ron for transgressing you're dehumidifier. Heh! It's an easy fix.

I’ll have to look at that

My 4WD started with R12 back in the very early '90s, then about a decade ago when the A/C system started leaking, they had to replace all the fittings, hoses, etc... so that they could regas it with R134a. Have to say, compared to R12, R134a sucks, it doesn't get as cold. Thankfully though, R134a is still an allowed refrigerant here in Australia, so I don't have to go about any conversion (Though you only have to do the conversion if your system is leaking anyway).

Seems like every couple years around here they’re either changing it in houses or in cars I try to keep up but it’s a bunch to keep up with
@ray738642 жыл бұрын
@@mybrotherdonnie Interesting, are you actually required to regas when they change? Or only when the unit needs a regas? Over here it doesn't apply retroactively.
@mybrotherdonnie2 жыл бұрын
@@ray73864 You don’t have to change until something breaks and you cannot get it anymore like our 22 for instance in your house if anything breaks in it they will not sell you more equipment you can still get the Freon it’s like $200 a pound but if you need the condenser or the compressor or any of that stuff they don’t make it no more so they make you upgrade to a brand new unit that is a 410 and supposedly At the end of the year they’re coming up with another one where 410 Will no longer be made

We can still buy r12 over here but it is expensive to the point where you do not want to buy it it’s about $100 for one of those small cans that’s 12 ounces

Update is Freon leaked out in about three weeks
@ccvideotech2 жыл бұрын
@My Brother Donnie Are you getting it fixed. I've had three of those units. Two have broken so far. One was a Freon leak. They work great when not broken. They seem to break less often than the $300 units but cost 10x as much so...🤷♂️ Less than 20% humidity is going to be tough that's for sure. Good luck!
@mybrotherdonnie2 жыл бұрын
@@ccvideotech We have not decided yet the tricky is it looks like it’s gonna cost about five or 600 bucks to fix it and I can buy used ones for five or 600 bucks working so I don’t know what to do I don’t know if I should buy used one or if I should just have that one fixed if I have that one fixed I still don’t know really what I have because it Was Ran for an unknown amount of time with no Freon the new ones are about $3000 like you said
@ccvideotech2 жыл бұрын
@My Brother Donnie wow, good condition used for $600 is a steal. Especially for the larger units. Right now I have one that has broken twice on me. The compress locked up on me. They'll send me the parts but HVAC guy told me $800 to fix it. And of course after covid the units are up 50%. ;(

Put some dye in it, use a black light to find the leak. Also, a lot of time it’s the dang Schrader valve that is leaking. Try replacing it or reseating it.

Change the Schrader valves. They like to leak.

I bought a Santa Fe and it lasted 3 years, was replaced under warranty and the replacement lasted 2 years. Don't waste money on these, everything is built nicely but the components are junk. Previous to the Sata Fe debacle I bought a Fral which was italian built with Italian components and it lasted 4 years and was warrantied with a Whitewing which lasted 2 years. I now run cheap Home Depot dehumidifiers and save money because junk is junk regardless if the sheet metal housing is prettier than plastic.
