New subscriber. Thank you for the videos! I have a couple questions if you don't mind. Im replacing my Raptor 660r thermostat and was curious if it matters which orientation the thermostat is placed in? Because there is a small factory hole in the thermostat. Mine was on the top when I took it apart. Also, do you happen to know what that intermittent clacky clunk is when idling? I noticed your bike has that same clack as mine. It goes away if I pull the clutch lever. Thanks in advance.

I would place that hole on the top. It allows for easier passage of air to bleed out as well. As long as there is no special groove for it to be placed elsewhere. The valves were in specifications. But sometimes they can still make a little noise. Might still be a good idea to check the clearances, just to make sure.

@@WOTSmallengines Thank you, you were right the thermostat goes in with the hole up. There is a small indentation on the top of the housing that lets a little fluid through. I did adjust the valves and everything seems good. The fan doesn't come on automatically. Tested the fan, it works, jumped the thermo switch and it works. So I thought it was the thermo switch and replaced it, but the fan still doesn't come on.

Check for faulty wires. Or even a faulty switch. Could be faulty even new.

@@WOTSmallengines Very true, thanks again. This bike has sat for almost 20 years. It's been quite the project!

No problem, what do you have going on?

@@WOTSmallengines my raptor keeps backfiring from carb. Blows them off every time I hit the throttle. There Chinese carbs and don’t know what jets are in them
@WOTSmallengines11 ай бұрын
@juanortiz-rl9ee definitely a jetting issue, or fuel delivery of some kind. Take them off, and make sure that they are clean. And check the jet sizes.

@@WOTSmallengines thank you sir will do. Is there any brand carb you would recommend just in case I need one
@WOTSmallengines11 ай бұрын
@juanortiz-rl9ee OEM is always the way to go. If you must, at least try OEM jets in them cheap Carbs. And hope you can fine-tune it.
