where in the hell do you find a radio shack today????? been gone for a decade or more?

8 year old video [as of 2023]. Try Google, it will come up with all sorts of electronics suppliers, like Digikey and Octopart

Just did this to my 2000 Ford Ranger. Worked like a charm! My LED came in a bag instead of the packaging yours was in, & the # is now 276-0209. EXACT Same bulb though. Long lead to the inside, shorter to the outside, boom! Problem solved. Thank you sir! Thumbed up.

Awesome! One note... the factory bulb is NOT an LED, it's an incandescent bulb shaped like an LED with a yellow sleeve to make it look yellow. Incandescent bulbs burn out much faster than LEDs, so your fix is better than factory. Nice.

good to know, I just assumed it was led

Thanks for keeping this video accessible - followed your example, suggestions and steps and within 1 hour, my passenger airbag light was replaced. The whole assembly was replaced and NO AIR BAG flashing on my dash. Thanks for sharing your easy replacement method. chuck

My 2006 Mazda B4000 just did this, (a week before I was going to trade it in), I had no idea airbag indicators flashed codes. A 74 type bulb is slightly different than the original, but it worked. Thanks!

I should have added.. Any 2 pin incandescent clear or colored bulb 12-14volt approx 1 w +/- should work.

Great video! I did this repair today using the same led light from radio shack. Worked like a champ! This is a simple do-it-yourself fix that will save you about $250 repair cost. Some comments for others who watch this: - the short leg of the led goes closest to the outside of the board when soldering. You can see this in the video if you watch it carefully. - I found it easier to remove the 3 bolts first and then unsnap the cover once the entire unit, cover and all was unplugged from the circuit. - I ran my solder at about 25W vs the higher setting (45W on my mine). This worked beautifully. Thanks for the great video, Kory! Thumbs up!

Just finished this repair on my '03 Mazda B2300, worked like a charm! Thanks so much for all the info including how to re-solder the lamp. Really great and saved me a ton of dough. Keep up the good work!

Found the exact LED you used at radio shack (The bag it came is had 276-0209 though). Fixed it today. Thanks for the video, no longer driving with a airbag light.

Code 27 fixed -ford ranger 2002. Ford asked $240 for the airbag switch box. I bought 2 bulbs for $5.95 from Walmart(long life bulb 74) and went to a mobile repair shop to replace the bulb. It took 1 minute and the guy told me I do not need to pay anything but I gave him $10. All fixed around $13.50. Thanks

Thanks for this video, it worked perfectly. I got an orange LED but kept the sleeve on it, and the color looks pretty exact to the original, IMO. This was quite easy.

Thanks for sharing the fix for error code 2 7. I used green LED #272-0334 from Radio Shack. I ordered the bulb online it arrived in a couple days. Took about an hour to complete the fix on a 2003 Ranger and it worked perfect. I do not have the error code now!

If the bulb that came out didn't have a diode then why do you need one on a replacement bulb ?

When he said he bought it from Radio Shack I knew he was a seasoned working man. This video was probably to detailed for most. Lets be honest most be people will just replace that PCB. When it comes to airbag systems I don't want to mess around to much. But great coverage overall

Ayyy. Worked for me. So the longer end of the LED is closest towards the middle of the board

i bought a soldering iron at homedepot & it also came with small amount of solder but the solder has flux in it, but dont know what type of flux it could be. When im applying the heat to the solder when repairing, it doesn't hold or adhere...could it be a different type of solder i need???
@KorysRides2 жыл бұрын
, you probably need different solder or different flux. You can get it specific to the materials you are joining

I've been trying to find LEDs but most I've found were 20ma max. Was told they needed a 1000 ohm resistor. I couldn't see the labels on the resistors in the video correctly but is that enough?

I used an instrument cluster light bulb and it works fine. The blinking airbag light went away. That probably saved me over $100. I had one extra instrument lightbulb

If you don't have an LED with an internal resistor, you can solder a 220 ohm resistor on to one of the legs of the LED.
@mikeprevitera58394 жыл бұрын
It’s a great video. However it didn’t fix my 08 super duty’s problem. The led would light up on when I started the truck, give me code 18 and then the led would turn off. Must be some new programming. I’m still giving you a thumbs up for your effort and help.

Does anyone know what value resistor to use if you already have a 12-v LED (I want to add the resistor inline) and what LED lead would you put that resistor on? Anode or cathode of the LED?

Love this video. It must be the best technical / instructional video I've ever watched on KZbin, great job. It was well thought out, well presented, taking the viewer from start to finish. Very Very Good if I may critique your video a little. It would be helpful to know what the whole switch price is. You mentioned dealer cost to repair, but was that for the switch only or switch and installation? Anyway I loved it thanks for the video Everyone's a Critic you know

Do you need to disconnect the battery or do anything else to keep from accidentally triggering the airbag while doing this repair?
@KorysRides9 жыл бұрын
No. You don't need to disconnect the battery.
@brucehampton15456 жыл бұрын
I've seen other videos that say to disconnect the battery for at least 10 minutes so I'm going to be safe and do the disconnect. Thanks for the video however it will help in fixing my air bag light hopefully and I've never soldered so I have put it off because of that. It's only 3 degrees outside now so it may just have to wait awhile longer ha ha. Great video.
