Now then Dan! Thanks for the feature length video this weekend. I'm not sure what Stella was saying about half way in but Ted (my old Lab') was barking in agreement! I had Iridium plugs in my E30 M3 and they just gave me issues. I'm not sure if it was a quality control issue or something, but I went back to regular and never had any further problem. Am back in an E46 now and just starting to get it ready for Llandow next spring. Anyway, look forward to the next one. *Mark*

Never ever had my toe bolts move. A prybar to set the position, and snug up the bolt. A bit fiddly but simple and easy. That repacement looks good for getting extreme toe values for trailing arm swaps, but seems worse than the OG method, however jank it seems. I'll send ya a paid evelope and 10 cash if ya wanna dispose of the old ones! Also I chewed up a converted power rack by not running it with fluid, ended up looping the lines for decent performance but eventually just converted to a manual civic rack. Fab some brake ducts for the heat issue, otherwise bleed em every time they get very hot. Overheated brake juice never works as well and will absorb moisture and air more readily leading to a soft pedal. I suggest finding the brake rotors with the best vane structure, holes and slots we usually avoid when racing here due to cracking/stress riser issues. I just buy the nice centrics which are kinda the minimum viable product for track use. Honestly suprised it's 2400lbs still. Got my crx down to 1740lbs (790kg) before the cage, with fuel, w/o driver so maybe add 185lbs (84kg) with gear. Taking off all the random brackets, unused nuts and bolts, including captive nuts helped a LOT. Spend a day just drinkin coffee and obsessing over grams and you will be floored at how much weight you can shed. Even if you have to add it back as ballast, it's worth it to put the weight where it's needed, low and inside the wheelbase. Thanks for reading my blog lol, hope any of this helps ya. Cheers!
@dannyDC2 Жыл бұрын
CRX is a lighter car for sure. This still has factory and stock panels so that will be a lot of the weight.

Awesome work, makes me feel slightly better about being a mussy bugger in my garage as well. Had my first drive in a DC2 last week, took a lap before I got used to revving high enough! Wonder if investing in a laser temperature gun to start measuring post session inner/middle/outer temps of the tyres and using the numbers to guide the camber/pressure settings could be beneficial?

@nobodynoone2500 Жыл бұрын
Anything helps, i've used the gun and it was close to the actual pyrometer IF used within 20-30sec of getting off the track. After that the surface was more variable compared to the pyrometer that gets a mm or so deeeper. High end cars use ir sensors to measure temp live. Seen a few garage-built guys using arduinos and cheap ir cameras to do the same so I expect cost to come down soon.

Just bought a DC2 and gone for the Dixcel setup like yourself. I wanted two piece discs but I could only find them in 282mm by Project Mu, and they were pricey! I thought they’d be popular enough for someone else to have made them. I’ve also got the Buddyclub QF’s.

You need a swirl pot/surge tank to deal properly with the fuel starvation. Also that play will probably be either a crack on 3/4rth gear fork or your shifter mechanism bolt came loose. Good video content man, keep up. Edit: It was the shifter mechanism. PS. I dont know how those cv joints hold on your setup, Mine used to die every 40/50 mnts of track time the difference being I use full 240 slicks, anyway I updated the hubs and using EP3 cv joints now so it seems its holding up now.

Bet that doesent even include required insurance. Events pay insurance for everyone, but for many solo test days you MAY have to buy your own. Still a bit cheaper than many places here stateside.
@gweflj Жыл бұрын
Dan, I can see you’ve got your hands full with all the mechanical issues but I think you can make your car go faster by bringing the aero up to date. Have you thought about a flat floor and some kind of diffuser. The gains can be massive. By splitting the air stagnation point to get increased airflow under the car, You end up with a smaller frontal area so lower drag and increased grip from the higher velocity, lower underfloor pressure. I'm sure you know all this, just amazed you haven't done it yet.
