But of info for you. Lap record on a cb500 (naked shopping bike with 52hp) is 1:40 flat, with the chicane. By the look of it those riders on the track night were well over 2mins, reasonable advanced group trackday time would be under 1:50 on a 1000cc bike, again with the chicane.

Can't imagine bothering with power steering on a car that small, never mind for racing (unless its endurance). Just swap to a manual rack, I think the vx model came with one stock. My civic came factory with a manual rack and have never wanted for more. You are adding drag to the engine, that goes up with RPM, to little benefit. The weight, particularly in the front, just isn't worth it imho. If you can't locate one, either remove the internal check valves and lube with light grease, loop the lines with stock fluid, or use heavy grease and leave it all open (with a catch so you don't leak grease on the track) in that order of prefrence. A manual swap is ideal however.

I always get pad knock off at Cadwell as well on 282s, no idea why. I wonder if it's the combination of hitting certain kerbs with the elevation changes. Considering 4 pots just because of it but it's annoying as I don't get it at any other tracks

@@dannyDC2 hmm possibly. Temporarily trying anti knock back springs on the fronts/rears to identify the problem area might be an idea. Though I wouldn't personally like to run them permanently as the disc and pads are always in high contact then. If you don't know, worn wheel bearings are a frequent cause of this issue as well. Though that's definitely not my problem on my 4G as I've replaced them all 😂

Depends if the track is accelleration or handling limited. The civic has double wishbone, while the bmw is stuck with mcstruts but has more power and rwd. I can beat some much "faster" cars in tight tracks but a single long straight and it's all moot.
