In MCM's case, leaking rocker cover means broken PCV system, air is sucked from least resistance area closest to PCV rocker cover vacuum port, instead the system should promote diagonally intentionally furthest away through means of the fresh air inlet tube on the intake pipe, with leaks a large majority of the crankcase ventilation is bypassed, stagnate oil and blowby products that are not displaced in the Positive Displacement Ventilation System then get stuck. Literally any crankcase leak is a instant DO NOT START the motor situation until they are fixed and PCV system vacuum is checked, again to Marty's points the second there was a leak it should have been fixed, sludge is a result of this leak like many cars I have seen.

Hey lads, as an Aussie that's recently moved to the USA and bought a couple beater projects.. If you can get it back home in Aus, Seafoam additive. I've had two engines one a 7.3 with a stuck valve and blocked valley resulting in no oil coming up through the pushrods and another with an extremely gummed up valvetrain. Seafoamed the shit out of the oil with a bit of ATF as well, ran them, drained oil, new filter and another round of seafoam before another change and it solved all the issues. The stuff is top notch

boys, my suggestion is to try source out engine parts from Malaysia, either from after market brands or from PERODUA Malaysia. In Malaysia (my country) these are sold as Perodua Viva . Furthermore, these nuggets are still running strong in our car community due to its low cost of ownership, and there are just heaps of Perodua Viva or Daihatsu Mira Avy community in Facebook forums and what not. All the best, really looking forward to seeing one of our favorite nugget in overseas .

Leave them to dry and you’ve got yourself a seal👍🏻

MCM, have you guys heard of the kerosene trick? It's where you put 75% kerosene and 25% engine oil. You idle the engine up to temp, give it a few revs to get the juices flowing, and drain it. It cleans out your engine really well. I do it to cars that have over 150k miles and it works like a charm.

Celastic as a rocker cover sealant? No biggie. I drove my 2000 Hyundai accent several tens of thousands of kilometers with a crack in my rocker cover "fixed" by duct tape. Rince and clean the outside with brake cleaner, apply the duct tape, and replace every few months. Worked a treat! Also worked perfectly to seal up a hole left by a car antenna. Didn't even budge going through the car wash several times over several months. Some cars are worth caring for. Some cars are just objects to be used! Embrace it! 😂😁

To clean the engine out you could top up the oil minus one quart, and add a quart of diesel in the oil, idle it for 10 minutes, rev it a bit. Then drain, replace filter and refill with fresh oil. Used to do that on cars who's owners "forgot" to do an oil change a time or two in a roll.
