Oh wow. As soon as you added the magnet, that hatch patten stood at attention! Your machine is clean inside, too!

Wow, that was very dramatic! Thanks for making the video @jimbodeanny!
@Synthematix Жыл бұрын
This is because the inbuilt magnet on the component has got weak, also when setting up a crts geometry you have to face the tube to either north or south to get the correct alignment.

WTF. No one has done this as far as I recall. Thank you for the super helpful tip. Your screen looks great.

Wow, that monitor and chassis is sqeaky clean! Great video, thanks for sharing.

I have this exact same issue with my candy cabs. I even bought a brand new monitor and the problem persists. Definitely gonna try the magnet. Thanks for the video and the insight !

Great video. Your Eyes cabinet is a beauty, as always. Hope you're doing well in these tough times.

Right on, nice fix. The fascinating world of electromagnetism. Looking through Quora, something to do with the magnet weakening over time due to the Second Law of Thermodynamics and Entropy. ...I wonder if the pincushion transformer can be magnetized back to specification? ...I wonder if after a certain amount of time, you remove your placed magnet, if the transformer will do its job to full capacity once again. ...I've been finding the vast array of the electromagnetic radiation spectrum fascinating lately. The vast amount of light waves that we put to use in everyday life, the multitude of radio wave frequencies and wavelengths. etc. HAM radio operators refracting/reflecting waves off of the ionosphere to contact others on the other side of the Globe. Earth-Moon-Earth radio wave bounce. Taking a Scanning Transmission Electron Microscope and being able to view an atom.

Can this be applied on a CRT TV? I have a Trinitron with some bowing in it.
@poppinhoff4339 Жыл бұрын
That's amazing, I want to try this on my sony trinitron 27fs320 that has a bit of bowing.

But what if I wanted to use TWO magnets, mister? You ever think of THAT!
@overnightdelivery2 жыл бұрын
Then it would probably be too powerful and you would have a purple spot on the screen ;)

Nice Video bro, Can you explain us, how did you find the pincushion transformer in a CRT? do you have a diagram?
@dinkyflix2 ай бұрын
Just by looking at the schematics, which are in the manual for the monitor. Most monitor manuals can be found online.

Oh. Interesting!
@poppinhoff4339 Жыл бұрын
Are you grabbing the magent with directly with your fingers or using a tool with rubber grips to place it on the transformer?
@dinkyflix Жыл бұрын
Just my hands in this case. Sometimes I use a needle-nose pliers just to make it easier to reach. There's not much around that transformer to be worried about in terms of voltage/shocks, but if you wanted to play it safe, you could use rubber gloves and/or just do it with the monitor off.

Anybody know if this could work on a consumer crt?
@dinkyflix2 жыл бұрын
I have no reason to think it wouldn't. They all have those transformers.

Did you have to leave the magnet there? Or do you apply the magnet and take it away?
@dinkyflix3 жыл бұрын
You leave it on there.
@adamc.kooyer2283 жыл бұрын
So... what magnet did you use? Where did you get it?
@dinkyflix3 жыл бұрын
Just a strong, round kitchen magnet. Nothing fancy. I think I bought them at Ace Hardware or Home Depot.
