I had a slow leak on my 2008 Cadillac Escalade. This video shows me finding and diagnosing the leak as well as the steps I took to repair the leak. I ended up replacing a gasket on a oil line cooler plug on the oil pan. It has been a couple of weeks now since I changed the gasket and it has completely stopped leaking.

I have the 6.2L in a GMC Sierra Denali and it’s been leaking oil, I’m praying to God this is the problem and not the main seal. I’ll pop that plate off and check inside for oil tomorrow. Thank you for the video. It’s leaking more than just a few drops a week though

Just take a look at it and see if you can see where the leak is coming from. The rear main seal leak is very common on these trucks. Hope that it’s just the block off plate like mine was.

Thanks again for this video. I did the same repair, using the links for the materials. I was able to slide right under the truck without lifting it or removing the tires. I did the repair about 10 days ago and have since taken the truck off-roading as well as driving around town. This repair worked like a charm. Cost was about 13 bucks and maybe an hour of my time. I laid on my back and worked upside down, using a headlamp for light. If I had to do this repair again, I bet it would take 30 minutes only. Thanks for this excellent video!

Down to the small things, and it was time for the oil cooler block off plate. Two bolts, new gasket and RTV. Probably a 15 minute job. Thanks for supplying the part #, made it easy. Just did this repair on my 2008 EXT. No question oil was leaking from this oil cooler plug. I replaced it with the aftermarket part. No more leaks from there. But my truck is also for sure leaking from the rear crank seal. With the engine running I can see oil dripping from that round snap in cover on the trans bell housing. I guess now I have to find a shop that can pull the engine. Ugh

Odd question. Have you ever had fluid leaking out of the front differential vent line? There is a capped line near the ECM on the drivers side that suddenly started leaking. Don’t need the dye! I was a Service Trainer for Kawasaki and we had a leak issue on some Z-1’s. Long story short, we found that cleaning everything off, then turning off the lights and using a Black light, the leaking oil looks WHITE with the black light shining on it! Makes finding wheezy oil leaks super easy to chase!

Anyone have any clue where a 05 Escalade LQ9 awd would leak oil where it’s all over the bell housing of transmission? If I can’t pin point it I’m just going to buy a complete seals kit for it

@OmarsGarage
@OmarsGarage 4 жыл бұрын
The thermostat is located on the front of the engine on the passenger side right above the a/c compressor. It’s at the end of the hose. There’s also an oil pressure sensor that sometimes leaks that’s located on the driver side at the rear of the engine near the firewall behind a plastic trim piece and down. Mine was not leaking but was one of the first things I checked.
