Hi Colin, This is my first time on your channel. I'm a fitness coach and run my own online coaching company. Being a start-up it's tough to afford a full-time editor for my content creation videos. So I've started self-learning on the premier pro and was having a sound issue with one of my videos. I'm still about getting the hang of the lingo used by professionals such as you. But thanks to your video, I managed to fix the sound issue and also somewhat learned in the process on the difference between mono and stereo sound. You're doing a great job. Appreciate the help and god bless you. Regards. Pankaj N, CSCS Muscle Layman Coaching

Problem solved - thank you for this! Question: for the creation of the mono track, this significantly reduced the audio decibels of these tracks. I know the ways to fix this but why does this happen? Is it being compressed?

Thanks, Colin, this was very helpful to understand how audio channels work on Premiere, I have a question I hope you can help me with it, is there any way to change the channel format of clips that are already in the sequence, I know you said it's not possible in the video but is there any turnaround to it? Cause I edited a video that was recorded with two different microphones and it has one microphone in the right channel and the other one in the left one. The problem is that when I dragged it to the sequence it was changed to mono but with just the Left channel enabled (so there's no audio from the second microphone) I edited the whole video like that and now I've realized that microphone 2 is missing. Is there any way to substitute the file in the sequence so that it has both channels?

Thanks Colin. Great tutorial as usual. I wonder if you could help me with a problem I'm having in my underwater videos. When filming clips, the camera mic picks up the noise of the camera running in the underwater housing, as well as the sound of the exhaust bubbles coming from my scuba mouthpiece. When editing in PP, I would like to mute the camera noise, which I think is on the left channel and retain only the exhaust bubbles on the right channel. I have tried all 3 of your suggestions in this video, but I can't isolate and mute the annoying camera noise. It appears that the tracks are separate because the waveforms are different. Any help would be appreciated.
@VideoRevealed2 жыл бұрын
Select the clip(s), go the the Clip menu and choose Audio Options > Break Out To Mono. This will separate both channels so you can just throw away the one you don't want. You can also Right-click on any clip(s) choose Modify > Audio Channels and pick Mono Right which will disregard the Left channel with noise you don't want.

Hi Colin. Very informative as always. I always used to think this was "mono" in Adobe Premiere and unaware of the fact that mono shows on both sides. Is there a difference in quality of the sound once output if we record on both sides vs "cloning" one side? PS Happy New Year!

Hi, I'm have some 5.1 audio footage where the music is all on the left, and the dialogue is all on the right, and premiere won't let me fix it, I've tried everything. These tips don't work on 5.1 for some reason; I tried making a duplicate audio track and inverting the audio but I can't put any effects on it. Do you have any tips on evening out specifically 5.1 audio?

I'm having surround sound issues... I'm running optical from my PC to a Yamaha RX-N600... it's old but can do a good job. I can't get anything on my computer to output in DTS or Dolby besides the "test" sounds and a DTS file I downloaded. In my PC settings, it says it it capable of DTS and Dolby and when I play a test the receiver says "DTS" or Dolby" depending, which I choose, and does in fact show a 5.1 icon. Everything else I play: games, anything streaming online, plays in pro logic stereo. Even 5.1 files I export from Premiere only play in pro logic stereo... I've been through every setting and can't figure it out. Any suggestions?

Thank for this. One trick I've done is to duplicate the track, and then put the interviewer @ about 90% in the A channel, 10% in the B channel, and the interviewee in the reverse (90%B, 10%A). This add some dimensionality to the interview. Of course, it adds a fair chunk of time to the editing process.
