Good video. I've been using liquid nails on gaps between ceiling joists and battens. Firing a nail through once it's dried but it takes too long.

Hi, nice work on the battens. I reckon that‘s PUR foam? If there's no cavity behind that brick wall, won‘t you get moisture issues / wood rot? Curious to hear your thoughts. Some more explanation on the foam other than it being rock n roll would've been nice. Thanks for the video

Great channel ,watched half a dozen vids already , one question , What is the reason for putting that foam in behind the battens?
@BuildingwithBudd

Nothing more than taking the bounce out of the battens and making it more solid, Cheers for watching 👍

With old houses built in 1900 with no insulation. Would you say it’s ok to plasterboard the walls. And long as you drill battens to them first? I seen this somewhere saying it’s the best way to stop moisture penetration. Thought I’d ask a real bricky

Thank you for your video.If you were tight for room e.g small bathroom/shower room and just wanted to level up wall with battens and packers how thin could the battens realistically be?
@BuildingwithBudd
@BuildingwithBudd 2 жыл бұрын
To be fair I wouldn’t want to go any thinner than 20 mm, hope this helps and many thanks for watching 👍👏

waste of time battening out walls. Dot and Dab, with a few mechanical fixings, is the way to do.

Try dot and Dab on a 100+ year wall, where the moisture travels through the dab and you're saying goodbye to the boards in no time. This technique is a must in those situations (my situation)

@@Lc-is8vn spot on mate was just about to reply with same. People think you can dot and dab anything but it’s not the case, I had to go do a job at an old barn where they had dabbed all boards onto the old stone external walls and the moisture had just pulled through and obliterated the plaster board, ended up studding it out with a vapour control layer and pb 👍👍
You will NEVER learn to Plaster until you can do this.
