I'll admit when you got this I thought it looked a mess inside, but talk about a transformation, credit to you it just shows with some hard work what you can achieve.

Nice work Jon. You're a brave man tackling that by yourself. It looks great mate !!

I'm currently having fun cleaning up a 90 year old car and really glad to have found Bilt Hamber products through your channel; their products have been brilliant. DEOX-C in particular has transformed the rusted chrome mesh stone-guards on the headlights. Also got a headlining to restore in an 2003 MG ZT; it's in such a state from damp getting into the car - it's going to be gross. Thanks for bringing us such an informative channel.

I'll share a trick I saw on a woodworking site: When you've applied the adhesive to both sides, you put thin, wooden dowels across the surface and place the fabric on the tub one bit at a time. That way the adhesive doesn't set up before you're ready. I guess it's too late for this job haha. Looks amazing, Jon! The old girl is cleaning up nicely.

Really great job nothing is ever perfect it wasn’t perfect when new a lovely 328i is evolving Having done several e46 m3s one e36 323ci Do A e36 M3 next it’s great watching you walking this road I have the same OCD eom Issues as you. Great entertainment Cheers

E36 m3 would be nice but its just a different level of investment isnt it. The good thing about buying these older cars is the acceptance they dont have to be like cosmetically perfect. so I dont feel the need to constantly try and maintain a high level of clean on the car and I can just enjoy it.

If I had to choose between the E36 and E46, I'd definitely have the E36 any day Jon. It's becoming a sought after model more so than the 46. Collector values are starting to rise now, especially M3 prices.
@forensicunplugged42954 жыл бұрын
the e36 wins it on looks for me. yes your right they are becoming rarer now not so many left. But the E46 wins it on the like the drive, its just a bit more spacious and the controls are a tad more refined.. both epic cars though I love raggin my e46 round the track.

Good to see you running a project car now. My headliner needs doing so the tips are appreciated 👍🏻 I did laugh when you said about running two cars of that age. My old Fiat Coupè is a 1998 and I've just said it's that and a lease car from now on. Cheap Volvo S90 arrives tomorrow 😁 It's Metallic black so I'm keen to see if you have any good tips for keeping black cars looking good - I'm sure this is coming for yours. I'm looking forward to using all the products I've bought based on your reviews on it. Literally cant wait to wash it 🤣
@ForensicDetailing4 жыл бұрын
cheers ryan, prewash that black car, light pressure when contact washing.. try and minimise the amount of buffing you do when you dry the car. maybe pat dry it and air blast the crevices. its gonna show the marks unfortunetly.

@forensicunplugged42953 жыл бұрын
contact mrretrofit that sells the head liner on instagram. he also sells it on ebay. thats the only way to find him. the glue is 3m high strength spray adhesive type that into google there lots of sellers coming up.

I've just done that for my E63, you'd think that after decades of doing it wrong, BMW would've noticed that there are better ways to do this that with this stupid foam layer that disintegrates after a couple of years. Man, what an annoyance.... what's the temperature range on the 3M? I used a German brand, Würth, which goes to 120°, which should be ok right underneath the sheet metal. I've also had to wrap all the pillars, as the light colored material was really dirty, and after washing it (Alcantara) it actually shrunk ever so slightly to not be able to re-use it. But of course I would do it again, paying for something I can do myself is just painful.

71 deg celius which I think is about 130 def farenheit. Its very strong bonding actually I used it to fix things on the door cards its a really good contact adhesive. On a different level to the evo stick stuff.
@sanscipher4 жыл бұрын
@@forensicunplugged4295 not sure that's going to be enough on a black car... the Würth stuff goes beyond 100°C, that's why I got it in the end....
@forensicunplugged42954 жыл бұрын
@@sanscipher you must be talking farenheit surly? theres no way my headliner though is going to get hotter than 71 celius :) even if I emegrated to the sahara :)
@sanscipher4 жыл бұрын
@@forensicunplugged4295 Nonono, Celsius, for sure, I don't compute Fahrenheit... ;) I did a lot of research for this, as I didn't want to pull the headliner out twice, and 80 degrees was the minimum I was willing to go to, but didn't find anything. The stuff from Würth was the only one that went higher. On a black car in blazing summer heat, I imagine 70 degrees doesn't give you much safety margin.... it's right under the sheet metal, that glue...
@forensicunplugged42954 жыл бұрын
@@sanscipher maybe the wurth product is the one.. check that boyriven company though for glue. All they do is headliners. they will know. but yer hopefully my one will stay good.
