Fixing Bridge Rattle In Fender Jaguar

Hey! I have a Fender Bass VI, which believe it or not is very similar to the jaguar and uses the same bridge and trem, and I was having a similar issue. Figured I'd give it a shot before I took it in for a professional repair, and this video helped me resolve my issue! Thank you for sharing!

Just to clarify, by Loctite I think you mean Loctite Threadlocker, not Loctite Cyanoacrylate (super glue).

I wish I knew few days ago that people use superglue on those screws. That's what someone did to my newcomer lefty jaguar cij.. It was so hard to move them, first I soaked them in wd40 over night and while I managed to unscrew some, some of them freezed. Then I used a lot of heat and finally free them. If I knew this, I'd just use some acetone as this dissolves superglue and problem solved.

I got this exact same Jag. I love it too. Hey, does yours have a gold or black Fender logo on the headstock? I can't tell from the video. Mine has a gold logo. I got it last week, but the date is from 2018, so it doesn't have the "75" anniversary logo on the back of the headstock. I also have a player Plus Strat from 2021, and it's got the "75" logo on the back, plus it's got a black Fender logo on the headstock. I'm guessing my jag was sitting in a warehouse for a while because I bought it 2 years after I got my Strat, but my Jag was made way before my Strat. I'm pretty happy that I have one guitar with the black logo and one with the gold logo. Best of both worlds. Edit: forgot to say, I agree that it's a very comfortable guitar. I'm a short guy, so the short scale makes it so easy for my small hands, and the body shape is comfortable, even more than my Strat. I also noticed that this jag has a slightly slimmer body than my Squier Classic vibe 70s Jag, and it's much lighter than my Squier and my Fender Strat. I thought it would be heavier, but I think I got lucky.

Hello, I just bought the same exact guitar (even the color!!) Thanks for the tip, but will it work with intonation issues? I'm having a bit of a problem with that and I truly want to make this my #1 guitar because of its playability!!

Congrats! As my video suggests, I too had some setup issues but nothing that could not be easily addressed. I have linked a helpful video below on some items to consider to get your jaguar playing like a champ. I would also note, that the Mexican jaguar bridge can individually adjust the height of each string so that you can match up to the fretboard radius. The Jaguar Player is the worst bridge design I’ve ever seen

The Jazzmaster bridge with the shallow multi grooves is worse.

I just bought the same guitar except in tidepool blue and for some reason the high e string is lower than all of the other strings. Why might this be? Thinking about returning it because i dont want to deal with these issues after spending $800

I would suggest adjusting your bridge. The bridge may not be level to the neck, or the saddles may not match up to the fretboard radius.

@@aaronr5398 the bridge is the worst ive ever seen, the buzzing is insane and when i use the tremolo my high e is lowered down again. Definitely gonna return. Wouldve been such a nice guitar if it weren’t for the awful bridge. Dont know why they still use that abysmally awful bridge

Just bought a Classic Player Mexican Jaguar and I'm getting a lot of rattle too. But the bridge in mine is different from that one. It's very much like a Tune-o-matic from Gibson, and the rattle is quite bad, especially in the G and B strings...

Oh wow, adjustomatic style bridge is the worst for any vibrato/tremolo setup guitar. I would recommend you watch Puisheen. He is a guitar mechanic who works primarily on offset guitars. He might have a video that can help you to troubleshoot and fix your particular model. Wonder if you can swap for a roller style bridge like most of the other jaguar/jazzmaster models.

I have a Fender Vintera 60s Mod H jaguar and I believe I have the same problem

I have that same bridge on my Jaguar. After setting the action and intonate the guitar properly, I have glued the screws in place. Did the trick for me.

lol My problem is that my bridge sank so far that my e string was flush with my bridge pup cover.

Do i have to remove the strings? Or just straight put the glue on the grub screws?

You can put the loctite on the screws while the strings are on. It will require finesse to put a small dab without touching the strings.
