wow !! a wild video just appears ! more seriously , I discover this chanel 2 weeks ago when trying to fix my NES ( and I succeeded thanks to you ) , and I've watched every video since then and after this I checked the date of the last video and realise that the last one was 3 month ago so I told myself that this channel was dead and I will have no more good reparation video so it's a good surprise , and I'm waiting to learn more awesome stuff about repairing retro stuff this channel is maybe not the more professional and I don't learn a lot of complicated electronic stuff , but it's good for a novice like me and you always show perfectly all the operation you made one day I hope I can even star to buy broken console on brocante ( I don't know the english word for this I'm french , it's a place where people sell their old stuff in the street ) because until now , every retro gaming stuff I buy is in perfect condition and so very expensive , but with all the knowledge I get from your video I can begin to buy broken stuff for a very low price and repair them myself :) so in the name of my bank account ( gravely damaged by my retro gaming addiction ) , I say Thank you for sharing your knowledge

Super Nintendo carts have a DRM chip on them and when it fails (and that one had a tendency to be the first one to go on a SNES cart) the game enters some sort of "pirated" lockdown status which is characterized as the "locked screen" effect. Many "broken" SNES carts are actually working, the actual essential parts that is.

The n64 eon adaptor works with the snes. Only issue is you have to cut some plastic off the snes to get it to fit lol.
@RetroRepairs5 жыл бұрын
If you dont have a composite (red white and yellow) hook up you're probably out of luck. They do make adapter boxes which upscales the signal to hdmi. Quality varies considerably and can introduce lag

Do it! Nes is pretty reliable with the exception of the pin connector. I wouldnt recommend an untested SNES. Notoriously unreliable hardware. I probably have about a 30% save rate on those.
@xninja83x675 жыл бұрын
@@RetroRepairs I was going to reply that I have only been able to save exactly two out of six until I thought about it for a minute haha...yeah, 30% is about spot on in my experience (I did buy a decent hot air rework station so I can swap chips and hopefully raise that percentage a tad) . And on the other hand out of twenty-ish NES consoles I have had only one that the solution wasn't to polish and rebend the pins. The one bad one had a bad ppu. Love the videos btw, I really like fixing this old gaming stuff and when I'm not it is nice to watch other people's process.
