good thing you did not use a bolt mold because it will damage the board

I know this comment is 5 years old, but the rust will come back after the vinegar removes it because these metal cages are zink coated and once cleaned they are just exposed steal. They would need nail polish or some other coating for them not to rust again.

seems like a very common problem that is caused by kids not taking care of their carts over the last 18+ years. It almost seems like an issue Nintendo could have prevented by making their carts a bit more protected.

Use a small plastic storage tote to clean the controller plastic and buttons.

So I have this cheap Hihiohoo motherboard of the pokemon emerald game. It looks so weird (I don't understand stuff like that, I'm not a technician type) there's no battery inside it either so idk where to start with it, and I might be clumsy enough to break it :)

watching this in 2024 and I cried when he said all that for $20. I now pay $20 for one broken system on a good day and a lot like this would cost about $100-150.

just took apart my old 360 controller i used to play on my pc starting about back in 2008 until 2014... xD. pleasant surprise on how easy they are built. only had to look up how to get the dpad out since i didnt wanna break it. ungodly amounts of gamer gunk were found - it probably didnt help that back in the day i tried to clean the crevices with sharp objects that also pushed a lot of stuff in apparently

Last night I fixed a 'tested' NES Advantage I bought off of eBay. The joystick and A buttons were not working By the end of the night I ended up touching up all of the solder joints to fix it. No corrosion and seemed relatively unused. Was a brown gooey flux nightmare though

Hats off to you, man. Great job soldering those traces. I can’t solder worth a crap, let alone something so small and precise as those traces. I never would have been able to fix that.

I really miss these uploads, but I get life happens. This was my gateway drug to FIXING my old tech instead of tossing it/donating it. I'm still so thankful for you, Adam. I always appreciated the lack of fluff and wacky youtuber voice narration/overprduction. Just a guy fixing his stuff and showing it. Thanks for at least leaving everything up!
