Big help. Thank you. I've taken my whole control valve unit out of my 743 and am doing all the seals as there was a significant leak. Turns out that tall aluminum cap for the spool had cracked, also, one of those springs had broken and the ball and the bit of spring that broke off had wedged themselves in the top of the spool. Operation on the lift was all or nothing, so I knew something had jammed itself in there somewhere. I had no idea "float" even existed and I'm excited to use it when I get everything back together. I found your video because I had no idea how I was going to get those balls to compress but now I see you take the c clamp off and you put the inner cup on first.

You did a great job with the Bobcat repair videos and a real service to all of us that own Bobcats and don't have a clue how to work on them. Hope to see more Bobcat repair videos from you!

Thanks for the videos mate I did all for cylinders on my 310 bobcat by watching your videos easy as . The only thing I had trouble with was getting gland cap off ended up using jackhammer with pointed but to get it to move then made a tool to loosen and tighten just like a grinder blade tool but bigger

Thanks for the idea for getting the detent balls and springs back in. Made the newbie mistake of letting the cover come off (was so full of oil it just sort of happened) Used a leather punch because of its round indent and did it inside a box just in case the ball let loose. Worked like a charm :-).

Great video Fitz! For what its worth, I'm Terrified to work on my machine. I also have a 743 with a 1702 KD. Love the vids man! I'm sure when I get my machine running right I'll be getting the float valve in order. I'll make sure to post!

"Float" is the ability to let the bucket follow the contour of the surface it's on, rather than being in a fixed position. To get the bucket in the float position, you have to push the peddle further forward till you feel a click. The bucket is now floating.

@ROTORWAW162 Thanks for the kind words! i'm a total newbie when it comes to this, but after watching some how to vids on here, I decided I was going to do my part and show others that may be scared to do these kinds of repairs by themselves, that it isn't really that hard if you don't mind getting your hands dirty.

Nice video . I took the whole valve out took me like two hours and I replace all the seals and O-rings in there and when I put everything back together The pedals got stock and after pushing them up and down The one for the Bucket works fine but the other one don't want to go up I have to kick it hard forward and then kick it back backwards to left the boom

@morganknives123 Thanks. yeah once I get better at making videos, i'll figure out how to film the actual process... I think my seals and bearings are ok right now, but I will for sure make a video of that project if it ever comes up. Also, I did watch a vid of that very project on here. I cant remember the name of the video though. If I think of it, I'll message you the link.

the next time that you do this kind of job, give yourself a favor, spray a lot of good degreaser and clean it up with a pressure washer, i always do that on machinery before touching them, it is so easier when everything is cleaner! BTW Nice Video!!!

Thanks for the great video on this!. My bobcat boom arms don't float either I think I'll try this. Also, on my bobcat when I lower the boom arms it's very difficult to control and jerky, up is fine, just down is out of control. Wondering if the ball bearings under the large spring help with that? Any ideas where to look for issues with the boom arm controls?

I have the same bobcat, and I'm having trouble with the lift. It goes up and down fine, but it won't stay in the up position. It just leaks back down in a matter of seconds. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I don't have any hydraulic leaks whatsoever.

did you ever fix this problem? mine has the same issue
@jeremyowings60796 жыл бұрын
Great videos man. I have a 743 that looks identical to yours. the problem i have is the lift arms are weak. I am wondering if replacing the seals on the this part would have anything to do with my problem. I have not had any luck searching the manual, or online. If the bucket is empty it will lift normal. but a half full bucket will not lift.

I'm not a Bobcat mechanic, but I have had some hydraulics training. I'm pretty sure those seals just prevent the oil from leaking out of the valve. The spool is machined to very close tolerance so that no seals are needed between the ports. If your control valve is responsible it may need to be replaced. I would suspect worn lift cylinder pistons first, though.

Jeremy Owings hi i had the same problem on my bobcat! It happened to be metal shaves stucked in the main relief valve! Stuck open! Check that out first

Hey bro .... Thanks bobcat told me the kit would be like 90 ...when i got the one im working on out I did not have no rings online I guess after years they hate away do you remember what size O-rings it calls for and where do they go when I insert a chef back in the machine

Well thank you oh teri for your input! I never claimed to be a mechanic of any sort. I fix things the way I can with the tools I have. It may not be the "right" way, but here we are, what 2 years later? and the float on the machine still works flawlessly. So how about you make a video of your own to show us all the proper way to fix a float valve?
