Bobcat Hydraulic Pump Repair pt. 1

Working on a Bobcat 743 to see why it won't move. First time working on one of these so I hope I get it right.

Doesnt help you now, but might help others. Those pump sections are Vickers/Eaton PVE19 or PVE21 pumps. I broke a shaft in one that was in a different configuration, and found Panagon systems out of Michigan had great pricing and you could call real people who could understand laymans terms and the pricing was very reasonable. But might could find others out there to service that pump family.

Got the same bobcat I’m thinking they put the thrust bearing backwards it’s not engaging at all, I’ll check it out once I have time.

So I checked it out, turns out the pins fell out of the cylinder deal and weren’t engaging, I put it back together bled the lines thing runs again everything works!, though it’s only running on 2gals or so I need to add more fluid it squeals.

Getting the splines to line up for reinstall isn't that difficult if you have an extra set of hands. Have someone lay on top of the pump reaching with both arms around to the back of the pump while someone pushes the engine and manually turning the crank for proper alignment. While the engine is out I would recommend having a look at the double u joint for excessive wear. Just replaced mine in 2021 for about $500 through bobcat.

Yes sir. It wasn't that bad. Had to have the wife give me a hand but it is done. The U joint was inspected and deemed in great shape. Thanks for the feedback Addam

This isn't gonna help much now, but if you loosen the fuel and hydraulic tanks and wedge a little wood in to lift them up you can get to the top 2 bolts and leave the bracket on the pump instead of pulling the engine.

Yes it was. If you have severe gouging, I'd recommend replacement of have a company surface grind it to maintain flatness. But when it's minor imperfections, progressive sanding to a fine grit will achieve the job.
