I thought the rust had to be cut out and these welded flush? I’m trying to find more videos or instructions but this is the only video I found. Thanks for the info

@@LSSwapSD I done both ways , I try not cut out if there is good metal there , more for reinforcing but make sure you do it on all body mounts to it’s all level. If the frame is really bad then I’ll cut it out completely but always tough because need to make sure that they all line back up or your frame won’t line up with the body

Those are actually meant to cut out the rust and weld in flush with the frame. The way you did it is like welding a new quarter panel over a rusted out one without cutting out the rust. Use a hole saw or plasma cutter the diameter of the patch and weld it flush. They were totally unnecessary on this frame as well.

I understand, we have done it both ways and wanted to show it this way for people that don’t necessarily have the tools or skills set for the other option. Like you mentioned , it could’ve, definitely gone with out and if it was rusted truly would have cut it completely out for sure. Thanks for watching

I agree, doing it the way he did could cause it to rust in between the 2 layers now. By trapping water it could eventually lift with rust building up. Just like you said when welding on a quarter skin over the old quarter. If he had welded the inner circle that could have stopped that as long as the weld was solid & no pin holes.
