In one of the most in-depth expansions in Cities: Skylines history, Industry becomes a larger and more meaningful part of the game with this expansion. Players can customize their industrial areas with supply chains for the four different resource types and unique factories. Well managed industry areas will level up and become more efficient. Aside from production chains, there is a new city service for handling mail and the cargo airport eases import and export of factory goods. There are FIVE new maps, new policies, new city services, new buildings (including resource extractors, manufacturers, warehouses and unique factories) and more.

10:06 You have to let them lane switch somewhere or else you force traffic to that coming off the off-ramp to only use the next on-ramp and everyone from the highway can't use that on-ramp. Recommendation: Only allow them to switch one lane.

It's a flawed junction to be fair, you really want your exits before your entrances, not have entering and exiting traffic trying to X through each other on the same stretch of road.

I usually make the left lane always go straight, then the rest of the lanes are allowed to change one lane two nodes before the exit, then one lane again one node before the exit. It helps so much so they dont cross 3 lanes at once like that family guy scene

In Brussels we have super long tunnels with 270° turns and really short entrances/exits where you can't see the car in front so yeah, efficiency made in Belgium 👌🏼

If I'm doing tunnels, it's dedicated (vehicle restricted) to freight and government services (police, fire, medical, services) only, and I try to keep them short. This amount of extensive tunnels is just horrendous, and now they've made putting in subways incredibly difficult.

My best advice for players that end up with messes like this: your roads need to go somewhere for a REASON. Plan ahead!! Avoid trapping your industrial zones as "islands" surrounded by residential & commercial. They need room to breathe and high flow routes to and from the highway. Commercial should always go along main roads that can handle the extra capacity added by delivery trucks. Doing these simple things will keep them out of low bandwidth areas naturally, and traffic problems will be few, far between, and relatively easy to fix when they do come up Anyway, been enjoying these videos today! May consider subscribing soon (i have too many subscriptions despite my care in selecting only my absolute fav channels) :D

Those underground roads all have sharp turns and that's why traffic it's too slow, i would change all exit points also many doing left sharp turns and slowing down the traffic.

10:08 you need to limit to 1 lane switch then again 1 lane switch; what is happening is the truck is going from lane 1 to lane 3 blocking all traffic. So 1->[1,2], 2->[1,2,3], 3->[2,3,4], 4->[3,4] and then the same at the next segment that you forced straight though moments before. 16:10 need one more piece of 4 lane to get to the exit lane 17:09 broke bus line as no one can turn right or left onto two way road, was not all feeding into tunnel

Between you and Sam Bur and the variety of city layouts from other players, I'm getting a much better feel for what works and what doesn't. I've managed to get my city of just under 100k from around 62% to averaging 72%! Thanks and keep up the good work.

With all respect to the owner, but this city is insanity with all those crossings everywhere. Also for the tunnels, you don't need those if you manage the roads on top properly. I think the owner would be wise to seriously cut down on crossings and perhaps use more roundabouts instead. Yes it will look a lot different, but he has the money so that should proof fairly easy in that regard. Biffa, this was a nice fix, I didn't expect this city layout was fixable that easily. Good job on that!

Only thing I also would have done is to add some missing highway connections, add a metro and make some main roads in the cities by changing priority rules and speed limits. Other than that, superb job.

Maybe it's something unique about my city but I've recently found that the metro doesn't actually help traffic much in my city. I've developed the issue with metro overhaul mod where when I load the game the tunnels drop by 6 meters or so and break all the lines and my metro network is very extensive, huge numbers of riders, 30 stations or so, multi platform going in different directions, etc. and when this issue came up it takes at least 30 minutes or so to fix it all every time I load the game so I gave up on it - but somehow my traffic hasn't gotten worse at all, still stays above 70%. The mod maker says he plans to fix this issue in the near future.

9:33 The cloverleaf intersection is actually one of the worst you can use because the inner part merges before it splits resulting in many vehicles needing to switch lanes in a short stretch of road, which is also why clovers is not often used in real life. Forcing them not to change lanes stops them from going where they want to, which in turn is likely to move the jam somewhere else... A better solution would be to use one of the many other (workshop) designs inspired from real life such as the turbine, cloverstack or the stack. The later usually being an expensive option, but easier to adopt to specific local needs such as additional lanes in specific directions...

What a great video, again! You make it all look so easy. That’s why I bought the game myself, but it is very hard to even come close to what you modify. I cannot find how to make lanes wider or smaller, change roundabout settings, level terrain, make curved roads without having them fly all over the place. Do I need to buy a lot of mods, if yes, which ones? There must be a ton of shortcuts, where can I find a good tutorial? Is the game run best on Windows or Mac or a game pc? There were far too many exits in the left side of most those highways when they should have been on the right.

I feel like there were too many enterances, exits and interchanges and they all just directly filtered into areas instead of a designated intersection. 4:58 is a prime example. The main highwasy divides into tons of too small roads and there's no main road in sight.

Noticed where you messed up the slip lane at 10:10. By stopping the oncoming slip lane traffic from changing lane you force it back off of the highway instead of letting it merge out of the slip lane and onto the highway. You actually need 2 merge nodes there, one for traffic to merge onto the highway and one for traffic to merge off of it.

9:13 As I could see on that junction there were 2 notes underneath it. I would try to see if it works better with the 2 inside lanes forced straight on and then with the oncoming lane have it given the option to up a lane. Have the 2nd go down a lane to get off. That way the lane switching wouldn't cross anywhere !

I just bought a copy of the game on Steam and I'm addicted to the game. I would say this is my current favorite game after CoC, Brawl Stars, CS:GO, TF2, Batman Arkham Origins, L4D,... This game isn't as easy as I thought. My traffic is still OK @ about 75% because I live in an area where special junctions and traffic distribution networks are used for rush hours. My problem is with my management... My citizen would start loving my city but after a few weeks, they will rant and move out... That's terrifying!

My basic concept in managing traffic is to avoid thinking like "how do people get from A to B?" - I always try to build my roads and highways like "how do people get past A and B". And I think that's the main issue in this city. Best example is the highway just ending in a highly populated area. Even if the traffic simulation was more realistic and capable of reasonable lane selection ... that layout wouldn't work in real life either. Now I'm @ about minute 2:00 and pretty excited to see what biffa does to fix this.

Road hierarchy. Multiple major highways. Dedicated on/off connections. The only mods I've used are move it and fine roads. I haven't had any major issues as long as I plan ahead and follow these rules.

I'm an amateur, but from what I can understand. Roundabouts have higher capacity and smoother flow. Use slip lanes and lane management for main roads.

Definitely would've gone with the bypass but also work on public transport as well. There's probably a good 5% of traffic just from a public transit network being setup properly between all the areas.

small thing, at 21:52 middle of the screen, it looks like there is a round about with burnt tress in the middle and roads crisscrossing it. It looks like traffic is going straight through the roundabout because of the internal intersection rather than around it.

Lafayette District had no possible way to turn right onto the highway, it is possible that trucks leaving had to turn left, drive to the city and take a roundabout to doubleback, slowing down traffic immensely 20:31.

When I see tunnels, lots of tunnels, I know somewhere something didn't go as planned and someone had to do something to alleviate that - tunnels are the least intrusive way to open up Artery roads where there were none before. My feeling is that unless tunnels are deliberately planned they're ugly, and they interfere with metro lines and the like. A sub-earth artery road with a strip of green/parks, plazas and pedestrian parks on top is a thing of Beauty, though - needs to be carefully planned, too.

When you add an asset, e.g. a roundabout, how do you get it to rotate to face the way you want it? I haven't figured out which key/mouse button or whatever else it is that you pressed.

I think by using pedestrian pathways can improve the overall traffic congestion. There’s just way too many cars on every intersections
