Well because there is a machine that just does. It grinds and brews and dumps the used coffee in a container. It is called an automatic espresso machine such as the Saeco Odea and its descendants.

I really like how you designed the holder, yet I don't think the problem is fixed now. I think the grind will fall on the left of your coffee machine before the scoop is put in the holder. But... I like how you made a holder for the scoop, as I always lose my scoops somewhere in the kitchen.

Great video - I love practical uses for 3D printing. Just wondering why you use imperial measurements in Fusion 360? My reasons for asking and points for consideration are: * The USA adopted the metric system of measurement in 1866. * The rest of the world uses the metric system. * The filament you use is 1.75mm in diameter and the filament usually comes as 1Kg spools. * A typical 3D printer nozzle opening is 0.4mm. (a multiplier for wall thicknesses to make things easier?) * In the print you showed, your slicer settings showed a 0.2mm layer height. (Have Z height as a multiple of 0.2mm to allow for printing complete layers). All the best to you all, Paul

It’s just what I’m used to, as I grew up in America, I do woodworking and my measuring tools are in imperial. A great part about Fusion is that you can mix units - I’ll frequently use mm and inches in the same model! Which is handy for thicknesses and perimeters, as you said. One of these days I’ll switch to metric! Thanks for watching 😊

Personally I’d want the spoon to be sticking out upright. For that you could use a magnet instead of a rail and thereby achieving the same goal of it staying upright without obstructing the way to put the spoon in. And it was a good video as always :)

Nice, always cool to see a problem solved. I think a simpler/faster solution would've been just a rectangular box with the inside two walls having a bit of a slant most of the way down to keep the scoop falling all the way through. The design seemed a bit over complicated on thie one from my perspective, though it's very late here haha. I shouldn't watch these at 2am, I've just spent like 20 mins thinking of a different design for a coffee scoop I'm never gonna use lol. It's hard to desribe with words instead of a picture, but maybe imagine it in CAD terms. Start with a a rectangular shute that the scoop can fit in. Except, there is a flat bottom to it, just like a normal box. Now, imagine you have a super, super simple version of the scoop in CAD - all straight lines, so the round shape becomes an octagon. Then the idea will be to use the scoop shape to cut out the floor of the box, so the scoop will fit into it perfectly. The next step is to flip that scoop around so it's like you're putting it in in the other orientation and then take another cut. This gives a weird diamond like shape, or two triangles, left over from the cuts in the 'floor'. That's where the scoop wil rest. I hope that was clear lol Either way, having a longer box means the handle can't rotate as much. The epoxy would be so hard to remove if you wanted to upgrade it one day. I'd have started out with double sided tape or something less extreme, at least to begin with. Anyway, one day I'll be able to do this stuff, I love tinkering and finding solutions to all those little problems. It makes so many things just that bit smoother. Greater video, as always.

I think caught it! *spoilers for those playing along* You set the tolerance, but used the tolerance as the width of the walls. So the holder is the exact measurement with no tolerance. The missing step was to do another offset to make the width of the wall, THEN extrude

It's not a very good grinder, you'd be way better off just getting a nicer unit. Wilfa WSCG2 is one I can recommend, you dial in your desired grind size and everything falls down into an easily managed container. If you use a scale and measure out the amount of beans you wanna grind for one pot of coffee, you just dump the entire container of ground coffee into the machine without any mess at all, and the grind size is way more uniform and makes for better coffee.

Why not print a cap that opens and is easily pourable for the coffee grinder so it doesn't need to be open again to get the grounds back out and instead can just be dumped right into the coffee maker thus also eliminating the spoon situation

Nice upgrade and good aesthetics for the drawer. Minor life pro tip though, just pick up the pink PETG. Girls love that stuff, even if we don't get it as men. My girl went so far as to buy around 17 different colors in kilogram rolls just for herself. If yours only needs pink, then that's a solid one-up from my perspective hahaha

It's always entertaining watching someone develop a project on the fly in Fusion. No two people are likely to tackle it in the same way, so the opportunities for shouting at the screen are endless. As a final gadget, I'd only give it five out of ten. It almost solves one of the many spillage challenges. Aligning the spoon with the holder means some of the coffee will fall out before docking and miss the holder. You also now have a very fiddly thing to clean out periodically. Reviewing your processes, I suspect that 3d printing is not an answer for any of them.
