I lo ve hydrangeas. I haven't got a very big garden so mine are in pots. They seem to be doing well. One has been potted for 14 yars now. I bought it for my late daughter when she was in hospital. She loved blue hydrangeas so I got her one to look at as the view from the window, in her room, was devoid of greenery. Very depressing for her. On seeing that her hydrangea was doing well, I bought a few more and propagated some from a vist to a garden, and the owner kindly offered me some cuttings. A beautiful white one- no idea of the name but I love white any plants. My husband bought me my first paniculata last year which was stunning, called Bloody Marie. Love the way it changes from white to pink to red. Thank you fo a great video. Happy gardening😃

Deepest sympathies for your daughter. It is terrible to lose a child. I also love hydrangea, especially the white ones and especially paniculata ❤️

spring chores. I was out the past two weeks doing pruning myself. There are still some things to do but the major jobs are done.

Oh Michael, when you have a garden with lots of herbaceous plants like mine (probably not so much in evidence in Florida), the pruning of bushes is only the tip of the iceberg. Spent my Sunday cutting back, weeding and dividing - just one border. I'm glad you're all set 😊

Hello Rachel, i am a new viewer from Nairobi Kenya. Your Mojorelle garden tour in Morocco helped me to greatly improve on my garden. I added more cacti and agaves and euphorbia. I live in the arid savanna bordering the Maasai people in the dry side of the Rift valley so the climate does match Morocco's. Thank you

Hello and a big warm welcome to the channel. I am not sure I have many viewers in Kenya so it's great to hear from you. The Majorelle Garden is special and I feel that, if I lived in a hot climate, I too would be majorly influenced by it. Thanks for subscribing and taking the time to comment. Happy growing.

That was quite a job. It will grow back in no time, they are so vigorous and in garden such as yours they look amazing as large bushes full of mop heads. I only have one at the moment and I don't have the space to let the branches grow that much and so I have to prune it hard every year. As soon as I see leaves starting, I cut the branches down to the first growing point but still, it rapidly grows into a tall and wide bush and it flowers profusely.

Does yours flower, Fernanda, if you cut it so brutally every year? You cut it to the lowest set of buds?
@FernandaNascimentoOrchids
@FernandaNascimentoOrchids 3 ай бұрын
@@GardeningatDouentza Yes, It blooms beautifully. However, by cutting them hard, they stay low, small and bushy.

@@FernandaNascimentoOrchidsThat kind of pruning is generally recommended for paniculate hydrangeas. I am surprised that your macrophylla flowers under these circumstances but happy for you.

This is so beautiful and I can't wait to for Spring to arrive. I prune mine in March or April (but I'm zone 5 for temperature coldness comparison). I tend to prune mine every other year. -- This is an off year which is good because we just got 13+ inches of snow (33+ cm!)

Generally oakleaf Hydrangea is less vigorous than macrophylla. I would only remove two or three branches in a year on an oakleaf and only if really needed.

Wow zone 9 is equivalent to Florida I didn't know it was so warm in Ireland! I love your gardening content! Can you propagate hydrangeas from stem cuttings?
@GardeningatDouentza
@GardeningatDouentza Ай бұрын
Our winter temperatures equate to zone 9 but we get little sun in summer and lots of rain so our climate is not like Florida's. Try semi ripe cuttings in late summer for your hydrangeas.

Has your climate warmed up enough to produce blooms on the Royal Paulownia tree ? Mine is in full bloom at the moment. (zone 7b)
@GardeningatDouentza
@GardeningatDouentza 3 ай бұрын
Paulownia blooming is hit and miss here as frost can kill the flowers. I pollard my paulownias though so I will never get flowers. Enjoy yours
Wait for the last one! 👀
