Fixing Mechtanium Surge first Arc

Honestly, you make a lot of solid points. I honestly thought that the Mechtogan were an interesting concept, and I would gladly take them over the Bakunano. One of the things that really put me off about the first part of Mechtanium Surge was the infighting among the brawlers and Dan hiding everything from Shun and Marucho. It honestly felt contradictory to their characters up to that point and like it was just done for the sake of the plot. Also, and this just might be personal, I thought the reveal that Mag Mel and Razenoid were actually Barodius and Dharak was kind of interesting, and I thought it was fitting that he was even more ruthless than before as he explained that touching the Sacred Orb and trying to take Code Eve's powers magnified his and Dharak's evil traits.

I feel like MS wasted a chance for Hydranoid. They reprinted his toy during MS and yet he never came back in it nor got a fanservice thing like Preyas or Helios. He's the only main rival to not get a huge buff in MS. And what "Blast From The Past" did to him was so damn dirty. As for Bakunano, maybe keep them . Like if Brawlers can only use 1 type of Support piece, maybe Bakunanos can be included alongside their choice. Since Bakunanos are basically sidearms(cut the bs of them being "Advanced form of Battle Gear") that can be used for emergencies(like if your Bakugan gets ability locked) or quick shots.

Honestly for the whole Mag Mel and Razenoid being Barodius and Dharak thing, thinking more about it. I kind of would've liked it if they were kind of like a Piccolo and Kami situation. Like say that when the two made contact with the Sacred Orb, and Code Eve trapped in the dimension and all of their negative emotions got magnified, instead of them mutating into Mag Mel and Razenoid, they actually create Mag Mel and Razenoid as seperate entities, since they only seek to destroy everything and maybe Barodius and Dharak have an attempt at sacrificing there lives, not so much out of guilt, but more like a rivalry kind of respect for both Dan and Drago. Also yeah, Jake should've stayed here and been the Subterra Brawler instead of ***** face we got. Edit: for the Helios becoming Darkus thing, I would be okay if they had just highlighted that in order for Helios to keep up and fight off the Cosmic Horror Chaos Bakugan, Keith, Mira, Gus and other Vestal engineers had to heavily mutate his DNA structure for Helios to continue his evolution process, since we don't know if his evolution into Helios MK2 with the Forbidden Card might've caused something to happen in his genetic structure.

I think Spin Master fails it especially because Shun and Marucho throw theirs guardian bakugan in the trash at the end of each season.. Dragonoid is irreplaceable, and you can see Dan's relationship with Drago grow throughout the seasons. , but, Shun, he had a lot of affection for both Skyress and Ingram, and all of his later guardians... are copies that could have all been evolutions of Ingram. Same for Marucho, there is no justifiable reason why he got rid of Preyas and Elfin at the end of New Vestroia, besides the fact that all of his subsequent bakugans have the same personality.

Runo and Mira shouldve been the main haos and subterra for arc 1 and julie and runo in arc 2 and Alice wouldve made way more sense in Miras spot as the scientist

been wondering for years if anyone would make a video like this, was pleased to see it pop up. i like a lot of your changes, one thing i will say is that this season has the most missed potential out of any season. i specifically love the idea of mechtogan as a surrogate and return to form for evolution. with power levels already skyrocketing, evolutions became harder to justify. additionally, evolutions have been about getting a powerup instead of developing as a character after season 1. mechtogan, as they were introduced, fill the role of forcing a brawler+partner to develop as PEOPLE instead of just getting a power boost. a team hits a rough patch, then has to come out even stronger than before to harness their power boost. it's a nice message. later on though, everyone just gets a free mechtogan as a treat. i also love how interspace became a toxic cesspit of stupid gimmicks like bakunano and invisible bakugan. they did a good job of capturing what the communities are often like in online games, and i wish they leaned into it even further. people hating dan at this point even makes sense to me, because he's been at the forefront for so long and, based on the last seen G-powers, he's using a bakugan twice as strong as everyone else's at its base, with no "content sync" or anything of the sort in sight. other than that, i love that you brought jake back and incorporated chris and soon into the brawlers. i also like your idea of treating this season as the conclusion to the new vestroia-gundalian invaders super-arc, while leaving the final arc as the capstone/love letter to the series (at least that's what it sounds like here, i have yet to watch your arc 2 video). overall good stuff, looking forward to watching the arc 2 video and the alice in new vestroia video, as that's another idea i've wanted to see explored for a while. insane that they had shun accidentally fall through a random hole into a mystical world (wonderland) when they had a character named alice ready to go.

I think Mechtanium Surge was such a disaster because they had a lot of great ideas, but they didn't manage to squeeze any of them very well, the first and second arcs are practically different seasons. In addition, they made many decisions quickly and in a very short time. Originally Helios was going to appear as Helios MK2, that is why Mutant Helios in its ball form represents Helios MK2 and not infinity helios.

Great video and I agree with pretty much everything you said, but I do want to mention a personal gripe of mine: The thing that bothered me the most with Spectra was that (ignoring the fact that his inclusion was fanservice) it doesn’t make much sense for him to be there in the first place. Why have Spectra show up to clean up the mess with Interspace of all things when it’s far from the most serious threat to the world in comparison to the previous and future threats the cast is going against? Spectra dropped everything he was doing to volunteer for the Brawlers but completely slept through the second arc where Earth/Vestal/Neathia/etc were going to be destroyed. They say its because Marucho sent out a distress signal to all of their allies and Spectra got it but that just gives me more questions. Where was this distress signal when they were getting pummeled in Neathia a season prior? Marucho didn’t care what happened in the Neathian war but he called all hands on deck to save Interspace? Its very apparent that they wanted to complete the attribute circle but didn’t have any good options. If they were determined to keep Alice out of the show then their only choices were Ace and Ren, and it wouldn’t make sense at all for them to come over alone. Changing Spectra to Darkus was killing two birds with one stone, bringing a fan favorite back and completing the attribute circle. But it just gave me more questions than answers. I am one of those people who only likes this season for Spectra. He was really cool. I’m just very confused by the implications of the show.

About the helios thing,i think perhaps he and spectra went on a self finding journey or something like that and helios replaced the inorganic stuff with prostetics,like his left visor eye with a eye looking prostetic as he isnt as power hungry as in nv

I was thinking of a rewrite for season 4 before discovering this vid, so cool this vid exist. One of the things I'm stuck on is Helios's attribute, either he stays Pyrus and add a new Darkus brawler or have Hydranoid evolve off screen or like sonicfan2403 said He became a Darkus Bakugan as a side effect from another forced evolution to gain more power to fight. The other thing being how did he get his left eye back? It's not fake cause it does move, it being a mechanical eye in NV does match with Spectra's mask and being a cyborg. So for the rewrite he either still has a mechanical eye (Spectra's MS mask can stay the same), never got a mechanical eye NV or he got his eye back from Vestal science miracles. Sorry I think how Helios having two eyes is stranger than a Pyrus turning into a Darkus.

Actually, we could also explain that he got his eye back by evolving. I mean evolution doesn't just modify the body, it most likly also heals injuries in the process so it's not out of the question.

The only thing that i disliked to be honest is that Helios become Darkus. I really liked the pyrus version more. It felt more like a rival to Drago when he was pyrus + we already have Darkus main rival (Hydranoid)😂

There was actually no need to change the color of Helios in Mechtanium Surge, since in this season, the darkus bakugan use the color palette of black and dark red, like Betadron; black armor and dark red skin color, and Razenoid, Dark armor and dark red skin color. It would have been worth saying that Helios was always a Hybrid bakugan, just as he also liked to be half bakugan, half machine.

7:54 I think you misunderstood that part! The only ones that says that Mag mal isn't Barodius anymore and Razenoid isn't Darak... are Mag mel and Razenoid themselves. The whole point was that they are trying to detach themselves from their past because they have lost. They claim to be different, but they aren't and that's what is causing their defeat in a way.

The show tried to build mystery but I feel it was pretty obvious who they were from the start (Can't confirm thought considering I started mecthanium surge before watching Gundalia invenders so 😅) Althought we could argue in a narrative view, Dan and Drago not knowing who the vilains are makes things scarier for them 🤔

1:48 You know, I don't think the bakunanoes where an artistic choice 😅. Bakugan are toys before being an anime, the latter being a big publicity for the toys. Bakunanoes and mecthogan being brand new things, it was probably in their contract to includ them. Could they have done something better with it? Propably. All I'm saying is they would have been in mecthanium surge no matter what the story was.

Why do you think about retiring Marucho with Shun and fill their spots on Chris and Soon? This characters doesn't have any intresting battlestyle or charisma. Paige and Ralf doesn't intresting character too, but they have battlestyle. We must remember about valid point: new season = new beggining. After first season all bakugans returns to Vestroia, after second season some vexos died, some vexos live on our planet, and bakugan return to live on Vestroia, and techology too. After third season, all bakugan and charaсters from Neathia and Gundalia return to their planets. New season - new cast of bakugan, expect Drago. Battle gears dissappear too, but Marucho can remember part of techology - and we have bakunano Returning Jake - sounds intresting, but what about Mira? She works with Marucho on arc 2, and her appear on Arc 1 can be logical - with Spectra's appearing. And comeback Baron - replacing Ralf. And if Baron comeback too, it's save the point - about Marucho's message to all members of brawlers in the past. I have disagree about idea - Mira repalce Alice in arc 2. Mira - subterra brawler, and darkus bakugan on arc 2 belong to Shun, Alice can may be in arc 2 with Mira, if they want creators of MS Arc 2. And i don't see any chemestry between Jake and Chris, because Chris - boring, she's personality less intresting then Runo's personality. My suggestions: Anubias living after final battle vs Dan and figthing with brawlers, like as Masquerade/Spectra/Ren. We don't have Ralf and Paige in squad Brawlers, but we have this characters on series about attacks Mag Mell on Gundalia. Squad of brawlers: Dan - Marucho - Shun - Mira - Spectra - Baron. And if we talk about part 2 - mechtanium destroyer is boring evil character, it's isn't character - it just evil-evil mechtogans that want destroy every planet and universe. Runo - active member of brawlers, aerogan make combine with Fusion Dragonoid. Nonet cool, but they need a more unique partner then wiseman, and Reptak - nonet too.

I'm not going to tackle everything you said but what I tried to explain in the video was that bringing in soon and Chris in trying to build off of their characters to make them more interesting so we actually care when their boss betrays them instead of them just taking up time. As for the other boys getting replaced the idea was basically retire shortly then come back. Instead of the Brawlers having a falling out my overall version of the take on the season would be the "new generation". I'm not saying what you're opinions are my ideas wrong it's just that I did this pretty without a script so a lot of what I say could come off as jumbled up mess
